 Loving this Torino desk which would make a fantastic workstation.

I have saved this image and love everything about it.

Flat surface, flat files, flat light and a fantastic spot to work.

I had to share this image and setting, sent from a reader who shared her proposal story, on ice.

The proposal:  This is the Ross Sea of Antarctica Ice Shelf -- 100 feet high -- and the only way to get to the flat top is by helicopter.  My husband-to-be and I met because we were adventurers and more than any place, we believe Antarctica was "heaven" on this earth.  Our ship, the Kapitan Klebnikov had two helicopters to get us to places otherwise no one ever had touched.  At this point, crew members flew in first, cut tables out of the flat ice on top before we arrived and had champagne and champagne glasses for us when we arrived in groups of 6.  By the time Paul and I (Joan) had flown in, out of nowhere a large group of Adelie penguins had appeared out of nowhere and were milling around in their black and white garb, looking like celebrants.  Already, it had been one of the most exciting moments of my life to do what -- as far as we knew -- no one else had ever achieved -- but then as we walked with our big red jackets and our bunny boots as far as we cared to walk, looking out at the icebergs like fanciful sculptures of an art museum floating past far below, Paul proposed.  I cried and then I must have smiled as I have never done.  We were in our favorite place in all the world on this glorious day, surrounded by penguins in their little tuxedos already, and we knew without any doubt that we WERE in heaven. 

Yes, we have gone back . . . for this is the magic that we thought was only dreamed about . . . but found it was real.  Heaven~!

 Suddenly the extra space feels neither empty nor bare, but just right.

The ghost of Christmas past lingers with an occasional needle or box of seasonal decor in my path to stow away.

The delivery of a child or two back to school can also present one with time for more extras.

 Clearing a space can instantly add lightness to one's life and provide instant clarity.  Both of the above interiors were designed by Vicente Wolf and I love the clean aesthetic.  Take a moment to enjoy your home by clearing a space or rearranging a corner to renew a room.

Also start the New Year with extras.  Extra stamps, batteries, candles, coins or supplies that might need replenishing.  Having extras will inspire you to feel more prepared for many situations.  What sort of extras do you stock up on?  Hope your weekend is extra special.

As I prepare to set up my design studio, file cabinets are extremely important for keeping important items on hand.  I found these fun file cabinets at cb2.  I was thinking white or gray but one of those bright colors sure would make filing more fun.  What color would you choose?

I seem to have caught a cold and all I crave is a hot pot of freshly brewed tea.  I am in love with these snappy pots.  Blue and white has always been my favorite as there is something fresh and happy about it.  What sort of hot pot do you brew your tea in?

Animals need to have a little fun too and these three were the life of the invite for a New Year's day party.

The pets partied on the front of the invite and the house was on the back.

I can only imagine the fun had by all who attended this bow wow meow party!

Whenever Winter arrives,  I cannot help but think of warm tropical escapes that cause my dreamer to kick in.

 I hope you and your New Year are up to the gold standard of this diary.  

There is something about gold that keeps luring me with not only it's shine, but the level of quality
and value it seems to radiate.

 A simple golden bangle can add so much warmth on a silvery winter day.

 Does your workout need a little midas touch?
These gold shorts would certainly get me moving.

 Love to have one of these golden circles to serve as a keepsake for my children.  

They mean the world to me.  The golden circle reminds me of just how simple life is.  

Round and round we go.

 This golden cube would be just the sort of precious metal to come home to after a long ride.

 Gold somehow seems to add so much sparkle.  Guess I might as well add some gold to my life this year.  Is it just me or are you going for the gold?  I am off to add some gold to my artwork today.
