sew what

I dearly want to set up a sewing corner and sew.  Sew what you ask, I think I would love to sew some tops like this and mod jumpers for Autumn.
Love this mod jumper, coat, pants ensemble, very Charlie's Angels.  I think it would be chic in a flannel or a camel hair.
Do you sew?  Do you have a corner in your home set up to sew.

I apologize, I saved this image....and cannot find the link to the artist who painted this.  I will look in my pinterest file in hopes to give credit to the artist who painted this sewing corner.

monday motivation -selfish pleasure

I have been giving lots of thought to living each day with a little self-gratification.
I give you permission to take a bit of time today and treat yourself to something purely selfish.
It's not that I wouldn't be all too happy to share my lunch but sometimes we all deserve to treat our selves to something special.

The above open face bacon-lettuce-tomato brought me great happiness on saturday.
Served on one of my royal copenhagen plates that I bought second hand for a song years ago.
The bits of shaved parmesan were tossed in the salad and dressed with balsamic vinaigrette.
Mind you, all this after a wee nap.  I awoke feeling flushed and re-freshed.
All this made me feel like a Queen, and I did it all by myself without any courtiers.
I was home alone.

Do you take time out to live by adding pleasures to your day?
What I am referring to, does not involve spending tons of money.
Why do so many people deny themselves time to live life with a little self-gratification?

Standing and eating or running and swallowing really don't do it for me.
What's your selfish pleasure?

What do you take time for in your day that brings you joy?

ageless happiness

Did you ever stop to think that you are responsible for your own happiness?
Today is the day to find your own happiness.
There are no age restrictions on finding a happy place in one's life.
Perhaps you might find it meandering off in nature or in a garden.
It could begin with a blank sheet of paper.
It is never too late to find happiness.
Mrs. Delany began her life's work at the age of 72 creating stunning flower mosaics.
Are you a late bloomer?
Have you found your happiness with creating something?

capture every minute

It is the end of November and I promise to savor this past month for all the beauty and wonder I have seen.  This past month has been full of emotions and has helped me to realize each day is fragile.  Life is to be captured.
As we enter into the month of December, I want to give the things that need attention the most love.
Spending time with elders has always helped me to capture every minute as time seems to be much slower for they realize a walk may be the last one.  I love the way time stops with my elders.  They seem to have life's minutes all figured out without counting.
Expressing one's true emotions requires living in that moment and not getting caught up in the madness.
Care to join me on capturing the moment and enjoying the month of December without missing the true minutes that deserve joy.

Gather friends
Spend time with an elderly neighbor or child
Create something to give
Give yourself permission to create
Take a walk, "window shop" - especially at night when everything is closed
Give happiness
Do random acts of kindness
Fill your heart with love
Listen to holiday music
Light a candle for someone you love
Light a menorah
Spin a driedl
Eat chocolate
Peel a tangerine and smell it
Send a letter to Santa
Make a wish
Call your Mother
Make a meal for a family
Give hope

creating space

Would you like to create more space for HAPPINESS?
The secret is in giving room.
Sometimes all we have to do is make a little room.
Have you read this book?

Are you creating space in your life for happiness or are you suffocating it by hoarding or holding on to things that are taking up space?
Summer is a time for giving space and adding a little creativity.
