mud room

Years ago, I illustrated this mud room entry for J.McLaughlin and still love it today!
As home-comings approach and we bring out boots and Fall attire, why not create a "mud room" of your own. A welcome bench and a rug to rally home spirited muddy feet and paws, simple hooks to hang jackets, and a spot for soggy umbrellas provide order to any entry. Warm up your entry with a plaid or paint it a warm brown or khaki tone.

How nice to have an entry like this one! I rather love the simplicity of organized bins and cubbies for families. Although I do not have a mud room, I do have a shelf for shoes and a garage for balls and sports equipment.

Do you have a welcome entry for muddy paws and feet?
What would your mud room look like?

What great images...yes we have a laundry/mudroom. It certainly does its duty for the mud and shoes, organization and decor on the other hand have not been attended to:) On my list. Now that I have such great inspiration, I can get to work, right?:)

And the illustration is awesome, as always!

I love this illustration! And, mud rooms! We have one and it is also the laundry room. If it was 3 times as large it would be perfect!!!

Alas - my mud room is also my front hall so it needs to constantly be cleaned and organized. We do use baskets to hide away the muddy mess!

I would love a cool mud room, but I have a bench in the garage with a shoe rack hanging near by. My dream house some day!

Love the charming illustration - wish I had those long long legs! And I love mudrooms - alas, I had a fabulous one in my last house (maybe I'll show sometime soon) and if you want to see another really gorgeous one, check out my post today!

I have always wanted a mudroom so large that it could hold a big country farmhouse table. Perfect for folding laundry, sorting projects and the like... My is more or less a walkthough...Oh, and pocket doors would be nice.

No mud room here, I look at the floorplan and see where one could have been placed...perhaps someday I'll do that renovation. We squeeze into a small laundry room that is also the door to the garage, and have shelves just out the door, in the garage for shoes. It works, but not ideal. Oh well...Love the illustration! Patricia I love this post! Especially your illustration, one of these days...
I would love to have a beautiful mudroom right off the kitchen.
I guess it's the visual type-A in me that adores cubbies and hooks and name tags.
Our mudroom is in our walkout basement. At times it's the entire basement! My favorite part is the 10 foot long bench that we rescued from the home team duggout where my Collier played little league for 5 years.
He put a fresh coat of black barn paint on it, bubble gum and all, it's a boy thing that I like. I know you would understand. You have inspired me to build the cubbies and hang the hooks this year. Thank you.

You just gave me the best idea-thank you! My coat closet is a walk in and we use it as a mud room of sorts. Most of our shoes are on the shoe shelf in there.

I've toyed with the idea of wallpaper and a pretty light fixture in there before. But you made me think of putting a bench to really give the mud room feel. Brilliant!

That's good to be marked like this! I prefer to love the simplicity of organized bins and cubbies for families. Although I have not the room of mud, I have a shelf for shoes and sports balls and a garage.

My mudroom is a small enclosed porch at my backdoor. It's very handy and has a bench, but most people come to the front door.

Wish our mudroom looked that organized. It would help if we didn't have the super sized dog kennel that houses our super sized dog, Moose located in there. Great painting and inspirational images.

I like your illustration mudroom. I can't say we have a mudroom, but we come through the garage into a finished basement so most of our shoes, coats, gloves etc are in a closet near the door. xo

What a fantastic painting! If we had mud in the desert, I guess they would build mudrooms...no rain, no mud! Ha ha but lots of dust. Is there such a thing as a dust room?
Love all of your choices there, I am so ready for fall temps!

I give definition of Mud Room like Many suburban American houses have a mud room, a casual, generally secondary entryway intended as an area to remove and store footwear, outerwear and Shoes also.
