let's focus people

My twin son's are seniors and this is our mantra. They will more than likely be focusing on two very different future Universities. I keep telling them to reach for the stars, aim high. Just focus and pick one out of thousands of schools. I have been told that there is a "lid for every pot."
Inside I keep saying things like the title of this book.
Serious Drawings and humor help me to focus.

How do you find your focus people, in stressful situations, humor me?

TamStyles,
yes she is, Kwana is the kindest person, and she always helps me to find my focus in stressful situations.
Sorry we did not meet, next time!

I can't imagine being a mother of twins, I wish your boys luck in their senior and picking a university right for them. Stressful situations I handle with lots of prayer. Have a wonderful weekend!

Patricia,
Love the book...I am very fond of the expression "Holy Crap"! The senior year is tough, sad and very exciting. Times two...whew! I will be holding your hand, albeit virtually! My only advice: deep breaths...often!

As I am just trying to select a high school, I cannot imagine the task of selecting two colleges at once. Holy Crap, indeed. The boys are lucky to have you as helper - your voice is so soothing, I can't imagine anyone is in a tizzy.

While its been 25 years since my twin and I were in the same position, we can still remember how hard it was to make a decision about our own futures... We don't envy your sons. Deep breaths and visualization helps me focus! Have a wonderful weekend!

Best of luck to your boys! Life has a way of working just exactly the way that it should and I am sure they will both have the best college experience. Love, love, love that quote! Indeed, it is time to focus on the unattainable!

I removed my last comment because I must not have had enough coffee yet this a.m., typos!!

It would have been great if you had made it to NYC, I would love to meet you one of these days. And two boys applying for college...oh, all the best!

Stressful situations, I try to focus on something that calms me and makes me feel happy. Sometimes it works, sometimes not.

I thought about you this last week, do you recall you said I should send an idea to the Nate show? It worked, just taped a segment with him. Thanks for the push...sometimes focusing on the unattainable works!

There is a great youth ministry tool called the Johari window. http://serenityonlinetherapy.com/johariwindow.htm I wish I could lead you and your boys through this wonderful exercise. I have kept every one in my Bible. It really helps you to have true focus. I helped friends who got stuck writing their applications to business school have a clearer focus on "why" they wanted to go. It is pretty great.

We say the same thing to our senior son! I can't imagine having two of them. This little saying somehow helps me focus;"inch by inch anythings a cinch!"

We are going throught the same decision process with my daughter this year...good luck. I stay focused by prayer and meditation on scripture. These always keep me on the right path. Carla

Been through is twice now - first time is the toughest. The good news is that everyone I know is happy where they ended up. My eldest didn't get his first choice and had THE best time at his runner up. I find distractions very helpful for stress - such as this, reading other peoples' posts!

Oooh. When I was in your particular stressful situation, I vented ALL OVER http://bit.ly/bMRLKl. That helped me keep calm enough around the kids. I'm Alumother over there, if you like forums:).

PVE,

Your situation is a Double blessing and the best way to cope is "offer it up in prayer" because: 1) It's in God's hands to begin with 2) Await signs that your on the correct path and following directions proves relief from stress duties. Hang in there Life is Good!

For immediate help, walking works to clear the mind,, gets rid of excess nervous energy, and is just plain calming. Overall, just reminding yourself, that all is well, and that in spite of appearances, everything is working out for everyone's highest good! Hope this helps, a tiny bit! Best wishes, for all of the right choices for everyone! You sound like a super mom! your boys are very lucky! Happy autumn!
