hello

I had to be brave at saying "good bye" as I left my sons today at their respective Universities, I could not help but think about how life will reward me with lots of
 "new hellos."
Happy long weekend and cheers to new hellos to the bounty of Autumn.

One of the hardest things I ever had to do was leave my daughter after getting her moved into her dorm room. Our life took on a slighly different hue thereafter. But, I adjusted and there were actually times after she had been moved out for a while and would come back for weekends, holidays, etc. that I was quite ready to send her on her way back to school!
We strive to make them independent, so we have to let them go when they are ready to fly.
Best,
Susan

Oh, my dearest friend, I just posted a similar good bye.
Don't let it overcome us, the heartbreaks and tears. We will be strong and loving and I will hold your hand when you need it!

As the oldest of three, I really didn't realize my parents' emotions when they dropped me off at my dorm years ago. I was the first one out of the house and I am not sure they showed much emotion during the trip. After they became empty-nesters last year I had many more conversations about how it feels to have your children move out and more recently, the joys of watching big moments happen in your children's lives as my brother is preparing to be a father in a few months.

Best of luck with this transition period, and of course to your sons at school. :)

Wishing you the best on this new adventure. I hear from others that boys are different in that they don't call Mom just to chat like some girls do, so the adjustment is more difficult. The secret is, go visit them and take them out for good meals, as often as you need to and can!! It's fun to see them in their new worlds! Good luck to you.

I love this quote. It feels so true. It has to be very hard to adjust to the new changes. Thanksgiving probably can't come fast enough for you. I'm also deeply sorry to hear about your sweet neighbor. A few goodbyes for you this week. A big hug my friend.xo

Have a wonderful weekend.

What a great way to look at it!! Thank you, it means a lot to me to read that quote as my hubby is heading out to Afghanistan. I can't even imagine the day I have to cart my boys off to college.

Oh.. I feel your pain. After having both my daughter who is in college AND my married daughter home for the summer it is even more painful to have them leave. My oldest is having a baby in a few weeks and will be back to have the baby here. Then off again - MOVING (how dare she!) with the new little one. Yes, I feel your pain!!!

Yes, thinking about the hellos is nice. And hey the laundry! LOL. I have to try and laugh now.
Enjoy the weekend.

How sweet every visit home will be! Oh how they will miss you too - but I'm sure they will hear your voice of wisdom and encouragement in their heads every day.
