trees of life

Twin Oaks, painted by Arthur Hill Gilbert, California circa 1940's
Just a few trees to give you a bit of shade, or inspiration. I happen to adore this artist Arthur Hill Gilbert. The trees captured here say so much. If only they could talk.

The lure of the Cypress along "17 Mile Drive", painted by Arthur Hill Gilbert

Cypress, along the California Coast, Arthur Hill Gilbert
Having travelled in Europe and in America - some of my favorite trees are Oaks and Cypress.
Just a few lovely works of art, of trees to inspire you.

Shelter from the sun, a resting place in the shade- or perhaps, a heartfelt chat with a dear friend.
Lovely angular trees. After my recent jaunt-I feel full of inspiration. I do think this gorgeous dry air has a bit to do with it as well.

Debra,
There is suddenly a feeling of Fall in the air here too and my thoughts turn to the trees and the "turning of a new leaf"-
Glad your recent jaunt has you full of inspiration.
Run with it!

The image along the 17 mile drive along the coast between Carmel and Monterrey bring back some of my best memories!

Lovely. Victoria has really old Garry Oaks, and I loved living there, to walk the trails where they lived.

These paintings are so moody...I love them.

Best,
Michelle

Trees, where would we be without them? These paintings are gorgeous. Fall is in the air and my favorite time of the year.

So pretty. I love plein air paintings of California landscapes. Don't own any originals yet, but someday I will...

PVE,

You know how much trees are adored in our family! Sean finds such inspiration in an array of trees we come across on our daily jaunts/travels.

One can always spot the 17-mile Cypress - lovely!

Beautiful, beautiful paintings. I live on the California central coast and have been looking at those types of landscapes forever. It's a sight that NEVER gets tiresome.

What beautiful works of art- I love the bright colors used, I can picture myself sitting under the tree and just listening to the ocean sounds.
