From the time I was a little girl, I have been fascinated with with paint, covering surfaces with paint and with the act of manipulating paint. In an effort to educate myself about a certain painting, I decided to do a little research. Painting is not as easy as it looks, but Mr.Sargent makes it look all so easy.
It requires tons of patience to achieve such a stroke of genius.
I take great comfort in the dreamy paintings of Sargent. There is something so magical about the relaxed models, the values of color and the pure pigment of the accent colors along with the sublime brush strokes that appeal to me

Suddenly, I imagine myself sitting for Mr. Sargent and feeling totally at ease with him painting me. I think I shall dream peacefully this weekend about my portrait. I imagine myself sitting in the grass wearing white with a pale sash. Is there an artist that you find dreamy?
One that would paint your portrait.

I can't say that I have an artist that I find dreamy. There is a local guy that has already completed our portraits in pencil. Which I find dreamy.
For me- where I live...Andrew Wyeth of course. I shawl draped loosely over one shoulder a glass of white wine and nearby some mussels in a shallow, chipped bowl of creamy white. Shall I continue?

I don't know who I would want to paint my portrait; however, the other day when I was posting about my Giverny...I was dreaming of Monet painting my water lilies. Carla
My great uncle was portrait painter William F. Draper. Most of my cousins, my brother and my parents and grandparents were painted by him. He had the most fantastic personality - sitting for him was a total joy. We had scheduled a sitting with him for me when I was 36 (10 years ago) - and then he became sick and died, he was in his 80's. I so wish that I had had the opportunity to sit for him...still makes me sad.

I also adore Cecilia Beaux - what a dream to have been painted by her.
I would wear a cocktail dress and stand with one hand on a beautiful Italian console with a mirror in the background.

Oh that sounds lovely - and tell me what does this shawl draped loosely look like? I have that chipped bowl and make a mean pot of mussels and will have a chilled glass of wine at the ready!

I would love to be painted sitting in a poppy field or some field surrounded by flowers.
I have always loved Sargent's portraits and they are all dreamy and elegant!

Oooh, I always loved Sargent's "Carnation, Lily, Lily, Rose," ever since I was a kid.
Sargent is one of my favourites.
I also love the work of Spanish painters Joaquin Sorolla, or Mariano Fortuny - the portrait of his children in the Japanese room is absolutely dreamy.
