sunday shelf - collecting

Friday morning, I had the great pleasure of attending a special event announcing the partnership of two very special people, "Ronda from All the Best blog" and "Vicente Wolf."
Vicente is a World Class Interior Designer as well as photographer.  The "Trees of Namibia", a photography collection by Vicente Wolf is offered for sale, a "limited edition" of prints per image are available for purchase via All the Best.  In person, the images are bold and beautiful.

Ronda has a way for inspiring many to join the blog arena, as Vicente recently began a blog. Meeting Vicente was fabulous, he is gracious, earthy and full of life.  I immediately can see his love of journey and crossing boundaries to collect items for design, learning to see the world in new ways are evident in his books as well as his spirit.  I was delighted to purchase the book, "Crossing Boundaries" and have Vicente sign this for me.  He has a humble, down to earth personality  - he signed, "Patricia, I hope you like the book!"  As an artist, we are fortunate to love what we do, but it is an added bonus when others like what you do.  Needless to say, I love the book.

Who have you met recently that inspires you to cross boundaries?  Ronda inspired me to begin a blog and to "love" my illustration.  I give thanks this Sunday to those of you who are on a journey to create, design and inspire others to live an artful life.  It is amazing how we can all learn to see new things every day.  Are you learning to see anything in a new way?  I learned to spell "Vicente" as well.  To learn to see and to spell are all part of a journey for me.

This week I learned that I should honor my personality flaws, for without them I would have no personality at all.

I've been learning to see 'myself' in a new way. I am constantly and consistenly striving to maintain a higher self of being, and am most happy in that space. Sometimes, the world may bite my ankles, but I perservere toward the Zen life.

I think I've learned to open my eyes a bit wider--to see beyond my normal boundaries. I'm exploring blogs that I didn't think would interest me--and they do! Who doesn't love a pleasant surprise?

I am learning to see the physics of aging: time does go by faster as we get older. I am learning the value of every hour.

Stretching beyond the norm is so good for all. A phrase like "that is just the way I am" bothers me because it seems to say, I can't or won't explore more , and there is so much to experience!

As you can see, I'm digging deep in your blog today during daughter's nap...this is funny, because you have so many of my greatest influences featured on here. Vicente Wolf gave a feature lecture during my time at the NYSID, and just blew me away. I was so inspired and influenced that his inspiration lasted for years. Not only an adventurer and wonderful designer, but a brilliant and dynamic speaker.
