dancing with the stars

My girl loves dance class.  She loves the floor exercises.

She really likes to jump, and pretend she can even fly.

Most of all she loves to perform.
Deep down, she loves to dance and act.
Today is her dance recital, on stage.   Dancing with the stars or "so ya think you can dance"
are shows she loves to watch and copy dance moves.  ( she just said, "no i don't!)  OK. Right.
Anybody that knows her, knows this to be true, any opportunity to dance, perform, sing, play her flute....she jumps at it!
What do you love to do?  Do you take any dance classes?
Do you ever bust a move, and dance under the stars?

Oh how wonderful-will there be a bouquet at curtain? I have taken dance, but now I'd rather dance to the light of the moon-in private. Perhaps in a Moonlit Garden...

yes shhh, a bouquet and lots of praise will be provided by you know who! I danced for 13 years and I feel thrilled to pass the baton..dance is euphoric!

I only wish i could dance sometimes if the music moves me AI bust a 80's move out and embarrass my daughter.

frau,
not to worry, we will dance under the disco ball or bust a "techo-tronic" move one day with each other at some "blog ball!" now that would be fun to put the blog name with the faces.

Hubby and I dance in the house. He calls me Ginger and I call him Fred. It's fun, and we laugh alot.

Good Luck to your daughter today - how exciting!

I love to dance...anywhere, anytime! I took ballet as a child, and many classes in college. It is one of my very favorite things in this world. I love to watch "So You Think You Can Dance." Such wonderful choreography!

Your daughter is a beautiful dancer! It will be a lovely recital. Enjoy! Bravo!

I love the first photo, she reminds me of a beautiful swan, sitting so eloquent waiting for the moment to fly. A very beautiful dancer she is!! Growing up roller skating listens were my thing- waltz fox trott... Today it would be more of the splat there she falls.
Have fun! xoxo

I danced all the way through high school and then on and off in college. Recently I started taking a tap dancing class - haven't work tap shoes since I was a kid. It's great fun and quite challenging now that we've advanced a bit. I actually got my husband and sister to take the class with me! I'm starting an adult ballet/modern jazz class in July and really looking forward to it.

Patricia

What a cutie! And I always find people who took dance as youngsters so poised as adults--yep, describes you!

I would love to take ballroom dancing lessons if I could talk my husband into it.

Lovely! I danced for years! NOTHING beats the bouquet at curtain when you are a young girl. I still love to dance and sing! Especially in the kitchen with our son!

I loved to perform as a little girl. Then I became an insecure teenager. My goal is that my daughter will escape that trap or at least fend it off for as long as possible!

Such delightful photos of your little dancer! I chose riding lessons over dancing. But if you promise not to tell, I still dance in the kitchen quite a bit!

My daughter is a dancer(ballet) and I danced(ballet) until I was a Jr. high school! Don't do much dancing anymore, but sometimes think I may sign up for an adult ballet class!
I would LOVE to get hubby to take some sort of dance lessons with me!

She is beautiful and how wonderful that she is loving what she's doing!

I'll dance with my kiddos all day long, but if you want to get me out on a real dance floor, it might take a glass of wine or two...

I used to take ballet with my daughter, and loved it! Also sewed a few recital costumes in my time!

I can't wait to sign my daughter up for ballet classes.

As for me... well, as a former Arthur Murray instructor (beginners' classes mostly), I can't wait to sweep Mrs. E. onto the floor at the drop of a hat. (Oh, and I croon in the car, too.)

I love these sweet photos! - Quintessential girlhood. I never was interested in dance as a little girl but every so often I contemplate taking a class now.

Oh this takes me back!! My 18 yo daughter danced her whole life - from age 3 I guess. She ended up in a ballet company, pre professional. She actually had some talent - we thought. the commitment to the company was grueling. in the 8th grade she discovered boys and that was the end of the ballet. Her father and I still miss it - miss watching her dance, the whole social aspect of the company, the friends, everything. Nothing would make us happier than if she would take it up again - but that isn't going to happen. c'est la vie!!! :) enjoy it!!!! these are the best of days.

Joni-
You are too funny - I guess as parents we just try to make the sacrifices for our family and hope that they realize the sacrifice on their part.
I think to be good at anything, there is some sort of sacrifice to be made.

Thanks for sharing these beautiful pictures of your daughter. It's wonderful when our children are doing something that they truly love. My oldest has played the violin/viola since she was six and will now take her love of music with her to college. We are thrilled.

I wish I could say that I have such a passion...but alas I do not. Except for the passion I have for my family and my work.

Loved Joni's comments - maybe she could convince Ben to take some Boys Only classes at their local ballet school! Your girl looks so happy Patricia, what a joy it must be to watch her savouring every moment of her class. I don't often have moments of missing not having a daughter, but this is definitely one of them - sigh.

Oh, I love the leotards and leggings ~ so classic! Don't we all love to bust a move in the privacy of our own living room?

you know the saying 'dance like no one is watching' ... or something like that ... well i do ... i can hardly sit still in my seat at the symphony (not that i want to dance, but tapping my toes to the beat) ... at my kid's band concerts my head is a bobbing ... and let me loose at a folk fest? i dance til my legs ache with delight ... under the moon, stars and sometimes the rain.
i didn't take ballet but always admired the sheer grace, strength and skill of the dancers ~ bravo to your daughter and her dance companions!

cha cha cha,

I trained to be a dancer and attended a conservatory/boarding school in hs so that I could train full-time. I took my 5 year old to visit on Monday and it was such a treat--for her and me! I do miss dancing, but enjoy watching her now. She is quite the performer!
