pergola perfection

A pergola in the garden to take cover and to admire the shadow of dancing patterns.
This is one of my favorite spots.  Only a short drive to this enchanted garden and I am immediately transported to a far away place.
Tranquility ripples all around me.  Lovely lilies lure me with their aquatic display.
Does it not look as if they are twirling?
Perennial beds lay beside lush blankets of fresh blades of green grass.

I am not the only one trying to capture the beauty of nature.
This artist said, "oh, not good" as I admired her painting.  I praised her for being there, painting.  We all need a bit of encouragement every now and then.

A visit to a place that gives me such wonder, such approval to take time, to look around me, to appreciate nature.  I leave with ideas for cultivating a garden, building a pergola or just taking time to visit a place to take cover and inspire my mission to design an artful life.
Are you on a mission to design an artful life?  What inspires you lately?

A beautiful park setting. rejuvenating - all outdoor therapy.
Yes, I am always on a mission to maintain an artful life. What inspires me lately is the sunlight hours; to be outside after dinner for a walk, or sit and enjoy the company of my husband and our garden, the many shades of green, the variety of shades and shapes of flowers, and the sound of water flowing. It inspires me to open the windows and bring the outside- inside. The scent of fresh flowers on the table, new books waiting to be read. The list goes on...

Ah, yes, the light of the evening and to enjoy the outdoors or the indoors of a museum seem mandatory for living an artful life!

Evening always seems to bring out the artful side of me. I'm a night owl and like to make use of the quiet hours to read and write and plan out my projects for the next day.

So many things inspire me - being outside, activities with the kids, discovering "new" things through my 2 year old. I think you can find inspiration just about anywhere.

This just might be the final push I needed to get a pergola in my back yard. I have been talking about it for a couple of years and we have a perfect spot! What a gorgeous place you have to visit ~ little spots like this are definitely inspiring.

Spring is inspirational. You have gardening, nursery visits for your garden. Botanical garden visits, Design house visits, museum trips, a little more time spent outdoors as summer approaches. These all inspire me to be aware of even litttle changes.

I had always imagined a pergola in my garden, but I needed tool shed space. My compromise was a pergola with a sliding barn door where I can store stuff out of sight. I love watching the patterns of the lattice shadows change during the day. What we gardeners do for a good time.

Pergola's over the rear of a house seem to be really popular lately, and have become somehwat of a 'go-to' feature for my firm. Most clients ask for one and they are charming spaces! A perola on the back of the house leading to a screen porch is one of my favorite things!

Your post is inspiring me right now! I will carry your images in my mind as I start on a somewhat tedious project; they will help me get through it :)

How lovely! I don't think we have anything quite this lush nearby or I'd be visiting it regularly!

What a fabulous space and I adore the pergola. Reminds me of one I saw at a vineyard in Sonoma, actually.

I adore your blog and art!

Oh the only painting I'm doing at the moment Patricia are walls, celings, doors, woodwork etc.! One day soon, I'll be able to change to something a little more gentle & I can hardly wait. Just a lovely post - thank you.
