creative collections

"creative collections" inspiration board, part of the neo-traditionalist's new years plan to live more creatively by taking time for artistic endeavors, inspiration boards, needlepoint, etc.
The Neo-Traditionalist posted her inspiration board the other day and I could not help but re-visit this. Another friend of mine maintains a book of dreams that she admits to mastering her life of intent. She confesses that the act of having a one stop spot to go to where the gathering of collectivity becomes a reality. In fact, her children keep "dream books" too. In essence, we can create the life we want merely from our own ability to inspire. How wonderful to think that the life we want as a "quantum field" of radiating positive energy into action.

Long ago, one of my most favorite tasks as a fashion designer, was to rally some asemblance known as a "Mood Board" full of the seasonal forecast for the up-coming collection. It became a go to place as the collections would take shape, be it swatches of fabric, trims, photos, and or sketches.

Have you given thought to just doing an inspiration board for each season of your life (in advance.) I am starting my Spring board to inspire me, myself and I and I look forward to sharing it with you.
What inspires you? Do you keep a book of dreams or a board full of your inspiration collection?
Please e-mail me pve@pvedesign.com to share your mood board. I plan to post a series of "creative collections."

I love this post, Patricia - my goodness, you are up early! I have pieces of a vision board all over my desk. Once again, you have inspired me to pull it all together. Happy Monday! XO

Very nice post here PVE. I keep a journal at my bedside and write hopes, dreams, ideas...grocery lists in it each night. I do have an inspriation board. I will take a photo and you may need to walk me through the rest of it... you know me with 'that' camera...

Can not wait to see your inspiration board, as well as the post you create with the others. I love this type of thing, yet strangely, do not have one of my own.

I'm in the process of creating an inspiration board as we speak. I just loved seeing the Neo-Trad's board, there are so many beautiful things.

I keep my thoughts, dreams, inspirations in a pretty journal but I need to create and inspiration board. I only wish I had an office in which to keep it. Great, inspiring post!

Like you, I loved doing "mood boards" in fashion and I do them for new books I'm working on.
I used to have a dream book. I think it's time to start a new one or wish board for this year. Wonderful post!

These boards are flat out gorgeous. I wish I could remember my dreams but mostly by the time I wake up I have no idea what they were. I keep a book of pasted pages from magazines. It isoneof my favorite hobbies!

I'm so touched! I love the idea of a dream book---that's going to have to be my next project! I believe whole heartedly in collecting and celebrating things that inspire us to lead more positive, beautiful lives. Hope you had a lovely weekend Patricia! XOXO

My inspiration board is a real mishmash - labels, fabrics, things torn out of magazines, notes from my husband (he inspires me as well!)....I need to get organized!

What great images! The photos you've posted and the images you've created with your words! I've got a notebook that serves as my dream book. Even the cover of the notebook is dreamy...

Love, love, love this idea! I have a board to put up bits and pieces for things that I am working on or have mulling around in my head. But it is not nearly big enough. I am contemplating something huge. I often work things around on the floor. Not exactly convenient, since I then have to pick it all up. But it gives me the perspective that I need sometimes to really "see" it.

I have always had my greatest clarity in my dreams, especially if I am struggling with a solution, creative or otherwise. Many of my favorite design ideas have arrived this way. And, I do jot them down. In the past I have always kept a "house" journal to gather images, ideas and notes about how I want to do something in my own home. However, until this post, I realize I am not looking at it as often as I used to. Maybe, it's time for a new seasonal view to ignite some fresh inspiration!!!

Hi again! Before even reading your follow up comment, I went on a hunt in my closet...reason being, I used to have inspiration boards, once upon a time...before the law degree, the practice of law, the children, etc. I am an English major, with a minor in Fine Art. Starting my blog was my way of rejoining the "creative conversation." Anyway, I am going to email you my discoveries!

I totally believe in the power of vision boards! In fact, I just realized that the majority of the fall wish list I posted over at Pink Monkey blog was totally realized. So with those results I'm working on my spring wish list as we speak! XXOO

I keep a journal and I three binders of inspirations! I love having my binders handy. I am also updating my books to my iphone using evernotes. It is great to take photos while I am out and also to look at the snaps I took on previous outings. keeps me on the straight and narrow for purchases because I love so many things!

A friend of mind did this and she SWEARS by it. And, in fact, her dreams did come true doing it!

Hmmm. . . each season, Patricia that is such a wonderful idea, it keeps all the things we want in focus and breaks it down into chunks, love it!
