mod pods

Three peas in two mod pods, in the lobby of Hotel Bloom, Belgium - Europe
Last Summer we went to Europe and my kids loved fighting over the two mod lucite pods in this lobby.  Fond memories of returning to the hotel and them running to claim their stake.
Something about having only 2 for 3 makes them happy.  If there were 3 of these pod chairs, I truly wonder if they would have bothered.  Mind you - we stayed at four different hotels and this was by far their favorite spot which they were quick to remind their parental pod squad.

They loved this hotel because it resembled the inside of an Apple.(store)  The hotel had a great breakfast buffet, internet cafe, fun lounge with great music, cool elevators and the rooms were
spacious, hip and nice to return to.  Fresco's jazzed one wall in each room, painted with bold, fresh designs by young artists and the artists bio was displayed under lucite.   Mind you, the hotel staff were happy, hip, fresh and looked like they actually liked coming to work.

Care to plant the seed and share any mod-like hotels that you have stayed.
Bloom where you are planted takes on new meaning.  Be sure to bloom today!

Such a cute photo of your three scoops!
Because Lucca, Italy is such a special place to me- I would have to say the Hotel La Luna. It's in the hub of things, the staff is amazing and it feels like home away from home. So cute the way your daughter and strawberry blond son are holding hands.

Cool picture I love the "mod Pods" my daughter would love those. I'd be afraid if I sat in it, it would come crashing down. We always stay at the Hilton not too Mod! My go to Brussel soon thanks for recommend!

Debra,
In Hotel Bloom, they had the best flowers, very artfully arranged. There was beauty in repetition, so a simple sunflower floating in bowls flanked a wall.
The gardener in you would have loved it.

Frau,
I stayed in a fabulous old hotel in Munich, the best "eiderdown" - windows flung open, and church bells pealing...ding, dong. A breakfast of cheeses, meats, fresh butter and the best lingonberry jam.

Cute photo!

We also stayed at Hotel BLOOM in Brussels it's like staying at a modern arts museum.

And the rooms where so gorgeous.

Did you also see Manneke pis? the little peeing statue? It's so funny when they dress it up around christmas and other special events.

I love the pic and that they are holding hands across the pods! My DD would love of of these in her room. One of my favorite hotels that quickly comes to mind is the Arizona Biltmore. So tranquil and relaxing. And just a work of art.

That's the cutest! I'm sure three pods would not suffice.

H and I just spent the weekend in a beautiful Crowne Plaza hotel.

I'd like to take our little guy back to the Eden Roc in Miami to see what they've just done with it. It was very deco when he was just 10 months old...I think it's gone all Delano-esque.

If only my brain were working this morning. We stayed in a fun hotel in a ski area in Greece. I can't even think of the name of the town--much less the name of the hotel. It was like a 70's hip resort/college dorm. Fun and funky. Not at all what I would choose for my own abode, but such fun for a few nights!

The pod chairs are just delightful, and you are absolutely correct in the math of two chairs versus three, I just know it!

Thank you for the tip on the hotel, I popped over to their site and bookmarked it for our next sojourn to that part of the globe.

May you enjoy some random grins & giggles for the rest of your day,
tp

I would have loved these as a child!! We always stay at "old world" type places and unfortunately these chairs are never there!

They say traveling with children around foreign countries is not only enriching for children but actually enhances the experience for everyone. People are always much warmer to foreigners when they see children. At least this has been our experience. Always find we get so much more out of the overall experience. Oh yah, love the mod pods!

Thanks to each of you for stopping by to Bloom and just to let you know the other hotels were to total antithesis of this hotel...ancient and more typical of European hotels. Variety is the spice of life!

Very cute! My favorite mod hotel I've been to was the Hudson in NYC, designed by Phillipe Starck. Very cool.

I love that your kids enjoyed those mod pods so much! There are 2 in front of the Standard Hotel in Hollywood. After a long night out on the town, a friend and I sat and rocked in them, taking pictures of every interesting person who walked by. It was so fun and complete strangers felt compelled to swing us.

I was just thinking about how much fun it would be to be one of your kids!!! Are any of them interested in art?

I've never really stayed at any mod hotels, with the exception of one in South Beach when they were first into full-on embracing the deco thing. I think they called it "mod," I called it "sparse." ;-)
