school bus jitters

Illustration done for A.Tierney for note-cards -"back-to-school"
Do you remember your first school bus ride?  The first day of school is always one of jitters and high anxiety.  Walking my little one to the bus is always a special sort of day, a ritual of sorts.
We always manage to take a photo or a short video of the momentous occasion.   Eager children at the bus stop boarding the bus with shiny new backpacks full of wonderful supplies. All is good in the world when you wave good-bye to your little student in hopes that they have a day full of learning new things, meeting new class-mates and starting off the year on the right foot.

I think either the children cry -or the parents cry! I was the one that was excited to get on the bus while my mom stood by and cried to see me go!

I have great memories of those first days of school in the Fall! Your illustration captures it well, Patricia!

The "bus stop" is right outside my window at the corner. Only the parents seem excited to be there in the morning. the afternoon is a different story... .

I'm lucky. When my daughter begins pre-K this Monday, I'll get to walk her there and back! I am practicing whistling the "Andy Griffith" theme song now.

I am new at all of this...kind of takes my breath away actually! How bad am I? there is no bus, just a drop off at preschool in a little less than 2 weeks...yes, I am freaking out a bit!

Patricia, I must tell you that all of your art work is just so touching to me. You know how to get to the emotions in people. I especially love the mom kneeling down touching the face of her little boy. So sweet!

Oh what a happy illustration!

My daughter BEGGED to ride the school bus...but alas, we lived to close. My son rides his bike to HS every day...still makes me hold my breath.....secretly.

I get butterflies at the mere mention of the first day of school. I can remember exactly the feeling you described.

I like the image you create . . . I really can't remember much from my school days, but I'd love it if the memories were like these.
