meet Billy

While I was working on this watercolor of Billy, I happened to see on facebook that he was in the ER and I could not help but think of him.  Billy belongs to a fellow blogger My Dog Earred Pages and owner of
Billys Bungalow.  Sometimes I truly think the power of thought can turn sad situations into miracles.  I am hoping that Billy is all better.  He looks so sweet sitting on this zebra hide.

Update, Billy is home and resting easy.  So appreciative of all your comments here and on facebook.

pet command

Sit.  Stay. Roll over.  Fetch. Down.
Now that I have your attention, I'd like to share some note cards just added to the etsy pve shop.

This set of 6 is today's give-away of this sweet English Springer Spaniel standing at attention.  I only have 6 of these left so chose to host a give-away.  Have you mastered any commands with your pet?  Do you give a reward for good behavior?

Leave a comment and I shall select a winner to send the cards to (via random number generator.)
Winner announced thursday.

new koi-joy notes in my shop

Everyone loved this work of art that I created the day of the RiverArts studio tour. Due to the popularity I decided to add these 5x7 notes to my etsy pve shop.  Notes are packaged individually and come in a set of eight. This lovely koi pond was created by blogger Monkey Grass Hill. She's jumping the pond and moving to England.

snow day scene

As promised, here is my work of art of a snow scene in Central Park.  I absolutely love the way this turned out as it shows a certain energy with everyone vying for a little parcel of hill to sled down. I added this original to my etsy shop.  How charming would it be framed and hung as a souvenir to remind one of the joys of a snow day.

I plan to try to add an original to etsy more often.  I must admit that I was smiling all the while I worked on this little gem.  As always, I am most appreciative of your comments.  Thank-you dear fans.

merry and bright

May your days be merry and bright.

We have been having lots of fun as a family skiing and "chillin" (as my college sons love to say.)
This year I was so busy creating cards for so many special clients that my own holiday card took the backseat, the paperless route.
My gift to saving a few trees and reducing a bit of Christmas card clutter.
That said, thank-you to each of you who sent me a card.  I love seeing how families have grown and all the creativity that abounds.
Blessings to each of you on Christmas day and in the coming year ahead.

UPDATE; Winner is Vivienne Strauss. Check out her blog over here and her wonderful artwork.

I love satin ribbon and tying up pretty pve packages and as we head on our way towards the holidays, I am stocking up on pretty ribbons for boxes of notes that I send to clients and often use as gifts.
The above notes were printed for "For the Love of a House"
Today, I am busy wrapping up some other boxes and packages to send.
Wishing each of you a wonderful weekend full of pretty packages.
There is still time to order from my etsy pve shop but orders for custom work are closed.
I will be accepting new orders in January 2013.

at sea

The lure of the sea, waves, saltwater and weekends full of fun sails or boat excursions seem just right for this time of year.
Although there might be some pretty hot dog days of summer, one just might need to pack a sweater or a nautical pea jacket for breezy nights by the shore.
What's not to love about a sail boat.
Even if you prefer to stay on land....you can still have a little of the "at sea" look with this tote
Any plans to set sail or drop anchor?
May your weekend be full of good times.

monday motivation - music

Music is motivating.  Especially on a monday morning when one has to get up, get to work or off to school.
Listening to music or playing an instrument can bring so much joy to life.

Do you have a favorite song or band that just gets you pumped up and ready to "play it again."
The above note card "Jazz room" was re-stocked in my etsy shop.

Take time out of your day to listen or play music and find the joy.

hydrangae love

I added some hydrangea love to my etsy pve shop.
It was fun scouting and styling for this little photo shoot.
Now all I dream of are hydrangea blossoms and a day here, poolside at this home in the Hamptons.
even the sky seems to have some hydrangea love.
Do you love hydrangea's too?

cool and crisp

A custom monogram sure does add an air of cool and crisp - to linens, paper or porcelain.
Perhaps even on a melamine dish this would be magnificent.
My client wanted something mod, fresh and octagonal.
But you know me, I have to explore all the design possibilities.
How about this pretty one for a pillow. I would love it in white on white linen.
Imagine it on a linen hand towel for guests to covet.
A Quatre-foil inspired monogram which helped me to cleverly utilize all four initials.
Not to worry, I painted the leaves green on the right before I sent to my client.

I have some more ideas for a cool and crisp weekend.
It feels delightful after that mini heatwave.

Have a cool weekend. Chill out and take it easy with something monogrammed...I hope.

Thanksgiving hunt

This original oil painting was a special commission and now I am pleased to offer 5 x 7 note-cards of this image in my etsy shop. Just in time for Thanksgiving, these wonderfully loyal Gordon Setters will bring joy to every hunt. It was a thrill to paint these gorgeous "gun dogs" as they gaze at the prey up the tree.

beautiful delftware

Beautiful "Blue and white Things" collected and arranged, on note-card, art by pve design, gouache
orignal artwork circa 2007 gifted to Anna Spiro
This work of art (c.2007) was inspired by the lovely collection from "Absolutely Beautiful Things." Anna's mother collects blue and white delftware, chinoiserie boxes, cache pots and pretty pillows, all gathered in a setting to happily co-exist. Blue and white always looks like a happy family in a room.
Note-cards of this image have been added to my etsy shop. My shop is open. Come visit!
I love collections, how about you?
