I can't help myself. There is something about the glow of a fire that is so inviting.

Be it a fire in the fireplace or something simmering on a hot stove - November just seems like a time to light a fire or try a new recipe.
The glow of a fire, the flickr of a candle or the love of an old flame can ignite warmth to a room.

Love this chest and composition of frames hung. This foyer looks like it is ready to greet me with a hug and love me just the way I am. What old flames are igniting your heart? A fire, a recipe, an old heirloom?

'Tis the season for old flames, isn't it? We have two fireplaces. One which houses nothing but white pillar candles of varying sizes -- so elegant. Love to watch the lights flicker about... In the family room the fireplace, by contrast, is not elegant but comforting, inviting... soothing. And on the stove... soups simmering... in the oven the sweet smells of freshly baked goods... Ahhh. I just adore this time of year. I suppose Autumn is my old flame and I welcome it back yearly!
I have been going through a ton of old pictures lately, and it just makes my heart melt when I see my husband and I when we first met, or my children when they were babies. Makes me want to light the fire under my bottom to be better....for those 3.
AND I love a good "real" fire in the fireplace...still to warm here.

Same as Gretchen, I got a new computer so transfering pictures makes me smile looking back! Have a wonderful day!
The scent of a wood-burning fire is one of my favorite scents, especially this time a year! I would give just about anything to have a fire place.
I adore a roaring fire. We've already had several and I wish I was sitting in front of one right now!!
And, I must say, there is no old flame who can hold a candle to my husband, Grant.
I love a crackling fire in the fireplace. And it must be the season of looking at old photographs because Mike and I stumbled across a bunch of video footage we took after we were married. I don't think we've used the video camera since then so it was interesting to watch... knowing what we know now, was ahead of us - both the blessings and the challenges.
Happy November to you xo

Every one of these images to start. White walls. Can't get enough.
Is it noisy there? Hope the reno is going well.
Love the idea of this post...the first image is so striking with the modern fireplace and ornate something (?) hung above! Janell
Beautiful image. Keep those home fires burning.
Love that foyer with blck gloss floors!
I love sitting by a good warm fire while a pot of soup is on the stove. How are things going at your end? xo
I also love a fire blazing while we sit on wing back chairs reading and/or talking. I also light candles; also enjoy staring at a candle flame.
This morning I had my first cup of hot cocoa - yummy!
A fire in the winter is so warm and inviting....sets the mood!
Xoxo

I am with you through & through Patricia. I love a fire and for the first time it's below 60 here. So, there is hope we may just get the fireplace lit. I also love bringing out the pine & pumpkin candles. Reminds me immediately that the holidays are coming! Enjoy each moment xx
You said it right in this post. As a child I would gather around the fire with my family. I've always enjoyed having one burning in the fall/winter months. Wish our old brownstone's was a working fireplace :(
yes, candles for sure ! And log burners for that wonderful smell as well as the flames...
I've got my environmentally friendly log from Whole Foods sitting right next to my fireplace. Just waiting.
Last night when I took the dog out I had my first whiff of a fire going next door; love that smell. Then, this morning there was frost on the lawn so I think it is time for us to get some logs ready.
Best,
Colleen
So pretty...I think its now time we get some firewood and light the fireplace...I'm chilly!
Patricia- Old friends. They throw as much warmth as any fireplace.

p.s. construction updates coming?
My oh my, what stylish rooms :)
I love fires and candles....I am totally up for a little "cozy" this Fall. Hope you're well, PVE! xx
LOVE the kitchen - fabulous. I love having fires at home but we generally don't start until after Thanksgiving - but looking forward to it! And last year when we lost power for a week in March, we were mighty happy to have those fireplaces!
I would take a fire in a hearbeat! In our last temporary home we had a fake wood burning fireplace that I just loved...push a button and there you go! It was cute too, not cheesy looking at all. Our new home has a two-sided fireplace but we can't use it yet...maybe next fall.
Lovely images...

I like the dark floors and white walls. The kitchen looks a great
place to make soup and stews.
