There is something so appealing about the word "Julienne." The word conjures up images of thin strips of leeks or carrots. The long and lean strips just look so appetizing served on a simple plate. Do you "julienne" - "slice and dice" or "chop" vegetables to add an elegant touch to a summer lunch or supper? Perhaps there is a sweet little bistro with the name "Julienne's" near you to stroll to and be served a plate of julienned veggies.
I shall be julienning some veggies for a little aperitif on the patio.
Happy Julienning!
What a charming illustation PVE!
ReplyDeleteI do chop, Julienne and feel very dicey every now and then. Saute julienne carrots in a little butter-add honey and some fresh dill~ a favorite around here.
This makes me think of Julia Child and that makes me think of the soon-to-be-released movie about Julia Child, starring Meryl Streep and Amy Adams. Happy thoughts and a happy illustration!
ReplyDeleteThat looked like me an hour or so ago....a well needed shopping trip! Minus the golden locks & the longer legs!

ReplyDeleteThe last gift my father gave to me before he died was a compound miter saw. He said he had some reservations about it. In his mind he saw the possibility of my cutting my ams off in perfect 45 degree julienne slices!
ReplyDeleteI think it is so much more interesting to julienne veggies. The appeal is so nice!

ReplyDeleteThank you so much for posting this video! I now know how to make my veggies so much prettier. I can't wait to try it on basil for a caprese salad.
ReplyDelete"Julienne" is a lovely word and fun to say. I've always liked it because it's so close to the ultimate romantic name, "Juliet." As far as vegetables go, sometimes it's easier to eat them prepared in this fashion, raw or cooked. Some diners are put off by clunky chunks, so the julienne touch would be just the thing.
ReplyDeleteI love this Julienne illustration... makes me want to go there. Julienne... love that name/word too. Such a clever name for an eatery.
ReplyDeleteThere is a FAB little bistro in San Marino called Juliene... http://www.juliennetogo.com/
ReplyDeleteFAB to see you visit my site!!!
I hope you are ENJOYING the summertime!
