sunday sparkle

Snowflakes have a way of inspiring sparkle.  I found this sweet snowflake added to a place card.
While skiing, I stopped to admire all the snow laden branches.  They look like lace.
This has been the scene for a few days in a row, lots of sparkly snow coming down.
Perfect for skiing and for preparing hearty cozy stews.
I have this hearty stew simmering on the stove to bring to the ski mountain for our Sunday lunch. All you need are onions, garlic, parsnips, chopped veggies, potatoes, water and I used some leftover roast beef.  Season, simmer, and then serve with some crusty bread.
Skiing certainly creates an appetite for warmth.

Hope everyone is enjoying a sparkly Sunday today.

winter whites

As I lifted my head from the pillow, my eyes opened and I could automatically tell that it has snowed overnight.  A fresh blanket of winter white beckoning me to wake up as if it were my morning alarm.
Have you ever noticed that after a snowfall, everything seems to take on a wintery violet hue.
As the sun rises, the golden sun is reflected in the snow and even the bark of the trees turn from gray to gold as if they were reveling in the snow and playing with one another.

One of my favorite Amerlican painters, Fairfield Porter captured these idyllic winter scenes with such grace and harmony.  I would love to collect winter landscape paintings.

winter

Just look at this, out my front door. My garland is down now, but I love the way the snow can blanket everything. I had to share this shot. Gotta love old man Winter.
