a reflective spot

I had ordered the book AERO Beginning to now, by Thomas O Brien and when it arrived, I carefully unwrapped it and knew that it deserved time alone to lose myself in his collected style over a spot of tea.

There is a vintage quality yet a streamlined calm without being too pretentious or off putting.  His interiors are welcoming, warm and intriguing.
Over the years, I am learning that part of what inspires me are those that bring an air of grace and calm to my life.   Do you treat or reward yourself with simple treats, a new book, a cup of tea and then taking time to sit, to reflect and to look at life from another artisans eyes.  Now, I am ready to get back to work after taking a spot of tea and inspiration.

Congratulations to Andie of Divine Theatre blog on winning the Never give up pouch.

indoors

I have been collecting some images with black and chunky window frames that I love.  They seem to define the space.  To me they make me want to stay indoors.
They do make a statement.
Imagine walking into this space.  Jaw dropping wow.
The outside meets indoors.
I just want to sit and stare all day long like this precious dog above.
Chunky framed windows create a space to simply admire the indoors and the outside.

Take time to enjoy tine indoors and outdoors this weekend.
We have a long three day weekend to honor Martin Luther King.
I plan to celebrate with a dreamy southern meal of shrimp and grits and some bbq.

Enjoy the weekend.  Inside and out.

monday motivation, industrious

The word industrious does have a darling ring to it.
So much more so than hard working.
I have decided to surround myself with some diligent and determined spaces that conjure up productive
and hard working places to get the job done.  How simple yet efficient is this stainless 3 tiered working island or breakfast bar.
This room has great style with the tiled wall and floor.  Did you spot the drain on the floor.  The basket under the stainless sink has such style.  How wonderful to do laundry or create simply stunning floral arrangements?  The stainless steel trash bin on the left is another touch of genius to keep the room tidy.

A proper linen closet with ample shelves for storing is rather charming yet hardworking.  I especially love the basket and the enamel bucket.    What items do you rely on to add an industrious charm to your home darlings?

Winner of Bethesda Fountain note-cards is Kwana randomly selected number 5. (I do not include myself)

sunday space

Sunday always feels like the one day of the week where we can take time to enjoy life as a family.
I love this space above how light filled it is and how airy and open.  I have this in my file for our living room one day to be transformed.
Another room to relax on a Sunday and read the newspaper or a good book.
.........
Hope your Sunday gives you space or time to enjoy a calm moment.

extra

Suddenly the extra space feels neither empty nor bare, but just right.
The ghost of Christmas past lingers with an occasional needle or box of seasonal decor in my path to stow away.
The delivery of a child or two back to school can also present one with time for more extras.
Clearing a space can instantly add lightness to one's life and provide instant clarity.  Both of the above interiors were designed by Vicente Wolf and I love the clean aesthetic.  Take a moment to enjoy your home by clearing a space or rearranging a corner to renew a room.

Also start the New Year with extras.  Extra stamps, batteries, candles, coins or supplies that might need replenishing.  Having extras will inspire you to feel more prepared for many situations.  What sort of extras do you stock up on?  Hope your weekend is extra special.

white and woodsy

Loving tons of white painted floors, bricks and walls...and wooden accents.

Scrumptious woodsy velveteen and cashmere cables are heavenly.
Just look at that rustic white painted screen in the background.

This room is perfection.
Gobs of white with lovely wooden accents.

house of orange

Something about the month of October that makes me want to bring some orange inside my house.
Rusty orange mums, orange cords, orange velvet and lots of pretty Autumnal orange touches to pack a punch.  Pumpkins carved as a vase, orange candles, orange pillows and orange knobs.  Does your house have any orange?
