a house

One of my most favorite things about blogging is reading other blogs and especially one's that post about their homes and all the love they give to make a house a home.
Many inspire me to want to capture them in a work of art.
To be honest, I am not completely happy with this one.
I still want to work on it.  I feel my artwork needs something more.... but I am sharing it with you anyway and sending it off to;
Joan shares every corner of her home so graciously in each and every post all year long.
Every house should be loved like this.
I really want to try to paint this one in oil.

moving

Often clients contact me long after they have moved with moving words telling me how happy they are to have the artwork. I really loved creating this work of art.
Well, I really love creating each one.
Don't you want to move right in this beautiful home?

humble abowed

Sent this artwork off, just yesterday.
loved working on this home knowing that the owners have been busy putting so much love into making it a "humble abowed" - Here is what Amanda sent me after the artwork arrived.

I received the painting today and I LOVE it!! It is even better than I imagined! I'm so excited. I'll have to find the perfect frame for it and then hang it. Thank you so much! You have been so wonderful to work with and I'm definitely going to recommend you to everyone. I'll share on my blog when I get it framed and hung, too.

I love taking snaps with my i-phone.
I like to look back at things I have worked on.
Sometimes it takes me longer than I like.
I stay humble with a list of work.

knock knock

Knock, knock,
Who's There?
Guess Who!
Anybody guess which blogger and talented interior designer lives here?
I thought that I would post homes of bloggy friends far and wide and have a guessing game.
Laura Casey guessed it right, the above home is none other than this fabulous lady.
Katie Denham Interiors
I remember falling in love with her kitchen when I first began blogging.

monkey grass hill

Does your house have a name. Meet "Monkey Grass Hill."
I love homes with fun names.
"Making a house a comfortable home" by giving it a name makes perfect sense.
If your home had a name, what would it be?
Please share.

first home

If you are like me, there is something nostalgic about first homes. This illustration was part of a give-away and the winner wanted an illustration for a family member of their first home. I am living in my first home and my parents are living in the first home they built.

Are you living in your first home? Does your first home need a little honor and dedication?
Why not celebrate your number one home!
Does your home need a gift?
What would you give your first home?

house guest

A client came to me with a special request for artwork of a home where she had been a house guest. What a lovely way to say thank-you. If you have stayed in hotels lately, one quickly finds out just how expensive they can be. If you have had the pleasure of being a guest and need a custom hostess gift, why not thank your family or friends with something they will cherish long after you have left. The gift of art lives on to be admired by the host and future guests for years to come.

cottage and vine

Just the other day, I spotted this wonderful cottage and vine and immediately knew that I had to illustrate it. How marvelous is that old oak tree. The owner told me it is 100 years old and soars upwards of fifty feet tall. Can you imagine how many games of hide-n-seek must be played there? The vine looks as if it has been draped over the doorway like an awning to welcome visitors. Do cottages like this draw you in like they do me?

good karma

In 2008, I illustrated this for a client who wanted to give a friend a work of art of their home in the States (to have as a keepsake) while they had moved abroad. Just today, she contacted me to let me know she has a blog and to tell me that (my artwork) was the best gift she has ever given. I cannot begin to tell you how delighted I am to hear that, it warms me in such a good way. Do you believe in good karma and in knowing that the good you do will come home to you? Why not spread good karma or a little zhush in everything you do?
