the art of balance

A dear friend congratulated me the other day, "You have finally achieved the art of balance."
Well, not like this cat lady above but I do try to find balance every day.  Just when you think you've got it, things happen to throw you off your balance.  Life is a balance, right?
I ask you how do you juggle life?  How do you balance everything?
Do you take time to hold on to friendships?  Do you take time out to play and have some fun?
What about couple time and romance?
Oh, and what about the babies, the children, work, fun?
How do you balance it all?
Sometimes life is truly like a circus.

Congrats to the Louisville Cardinals on last night's winning game.
I thought about the players and how they balance the stress that must go with winning and losing.
Everything requires the art of balance, right?

showing scars

One of my favorite illustrators, stories and books has to be Madeline and when she proudly shows her scars to her friends.
I am big on visual connections, and all I could think of was that my daughter's malaise was more than a belly ache.  My Mother's intuition told me, it's time for a trip to the ER.  Never mind that it's winter break and we are supposed to be having fun and skiing.  How can I think of anything else with a sick girl not improving.
So, for the next few days, I shall be nursing my dear daughter back to health and looking forward to her having visitors to show her scars.  I mean if Madeline can do it, she surely must have inspired countless other girls to flaunt wounds and victories.

freshman

"It is confidence in our bodies, minds and spirits that allows us to keep looking for new adventures, new directions to grow in, and new lessons to learn - which is what life is all about."

~Oprah Winfrey

Our sons are freshman and are away at University.  Today they are coming home for the long weekend.
I know their sister will be happy to have them shower her with love.
I will be so thrilled to have them home and hear all about their first month and new discoveries.
Looking forward to sharing our new kitchen and nourishing my family with home cooked meals and a lively house.
It is Columbus weekend here in the states.
Enjoy!
