As I was going through some of my sketchbooks, I noticed that I had a series of table lamps. I love how time can very often bring our attention to the light. Do you have a favorite table lamp?

ReplyDeleteConversely, I also have a couple of hideous pineapple lamps from the 70s that I picked up at a junk shop about five years ago. They're great period pieces and I love them.
I love these illustrations of table lamps. A table lamp is my favorite kind of light...I really really dislike overhead lighting. I walk around my house in the morning turning on all the little lamps, table lamps etc. in my house for that warm glow. Most of mine are by Jamie Young.

Two favourite lamps, actually! Quite a few years ago, these lamps were purchase to fit with new living room furniture. They are quite heavy as each lamp is made of a heavy iron in a smoky green colour. The lamp shades of white opaque/frosted glass are circled with a chain of ivory in a matching green to the lamp base. I still like these lamps very much after 20 years!

ReplyDeletedon't get me started! I love table lamps. I rarely turn on the overhead lighting. Lights from lamps is so much warmer and softer and more flattering. I find I am always able to find more good lamps than shades however. Loved your farewell to summer piece!
