monday mojo - time to paint

One of the very best art teachers that I ever had taught the importance of having the right art supplies all lined up and ready to go. She would say, if your supplies are taken care of and your palette is ready, then you can get down to business and paint. Nothing gets in the way of one's mojo more than that of not having the proper brush or paint. The same philosophy can be true for every profession. Having the right tools and supplies can be so liberating along with making time for art is so important.
The about image is a close-up of one of Cy Twombly's paintings and I adore the random marks and the freedom of the lines and the color.

This week, I am testing some new supplies and feeling incredibly motivated. I am also moving towards limiting the number of commissions that I take on as I am feeling the need to honor my own personal work. Don't get me wrong, I am so thankful for all the commissions but making time for art and space to paint for me has been on my motivational wish list.

Happy Monday to each of you. What are you making time for?

“Only put off until tomorrow, what you are willing to die left undone.” Pablo Picasso

Hello pve,
It's all about having the right supplies available and ready to go. Glad you are feeling so motivated today. New supplies can be very exciting! I understand the need to honor your own work. Thank you for stopping by my blog. I have admired your work for some years now. Happy Monday to you too.

Thank you for starting off my Monday with some shared motivation! Working on a book of garden photos and personal statements from gardeners and I am truly stuck in the grinding monotony of corrections and details.....will post this quotation on my computer and try to open up the day for more of the important stuff!!!

How exciting for you! Such a great feeling when you're organized, motivated and inspired. I can sense you've got it all.

And, funny enough....we're thinking alike today. Slightly different angle. Let's just say we both mention Picasso! :)

I'm shutting off the computer as I leave the office and am focusing on the kids when at home... I know this will be a challenge as they would prefer to be online!

I'm so jealous that you can take those items and create something so beautiful.....That is such a talent...like singing that just comes from your heart and soul.
Glad I could get people to take a few things to the GW this week....Lord knows that I am in dire need of an intervention...but would I just get angry and argue????

Ahhh, I so wish I had a fraction of your talent. I can only imagine how it must feel to create as you do.
You have such a gift.

You speak the truth! Your work is so creative and special; it's best to keep commissions within reason. We all love your work and want what's best for you (so we can see the best from you!).

I am right there on the same path; taking some time away from blogging this coming month....though a bet lost is a bet lost. It was a much needed break and one that will help me to center and focus!
Loved the article by the way...I am finding that to be exactly true!

I love that Cy Twombly and can see how it's your inspiration. I'm also glad you're going to take more time for your personal work, Patricia, it's so important! I've been down with the flu for the past couple of weeks so I think I may try to slip out this afternoon to the beach--better than spending one more day wrapped up on the sofa!
