I was raised in a home with freshly baked bread. My Mom went through many phases and bread kicks, whole wheat, sunflower and oat bread, french bread, parmesan pull apart loaf, raisin bread, banana bread. You get the idea. Well, there is one thing that continues on in my home, which is the love of really good bread. Do you allow yourself a little daily bread? What kind is your favorite bread?
I love seven grain from black cat Bakery which can be found at our local whimsical bakehouse.
Love bread and love to bake my own, sourdough is my favourite One of the things I miss about NYC is the amazing bread

To this day my Mom and Dad both love to bake and are celebrating 80th birthdays. Always something fresh from the oven at their home.

My father is the bread baker of the family and there is nothing like the smell of freshly baked cinnamon raisin bread in the morning. If you allow him, he will talk for hours about yeast.

I've been baking banana bread, but with a house full of "kids", the bananas never get brown enough, no matter how many I buy. Everyone wants chocolate chips and nuts in the next batch.
ReplyDeleteYou are so lucky to have grown up on homeade bread. My mom worked, but when the grandmas came to visit from Nova Scotia, they baked it, and I would love to come home from school for lunch :)
Of course, you NEED real butter!

We love fresh bread, there is a wonderful German tradition of good dark rye or wheat bread, full of whole grain goodness and it's tempting crust and enticing scent.

Really good bread is a weakness, so I have never learned to work with yeast~ I really think it best that I leave it at this for now. But this loaf sure looks tempting! There are few things that rival the scent of bread baking on a cold day.

Just finished gobbling up the last of the Irish Soday bread we made for St. Patty's. I love it, but stick to only making it in March lest it lose it's thrill! Everyday, sourdough, or English muffins.

ReplyDeleteI love to bake. This week our homemade bread of choice is in the form of Hot Cross Buns for the Easter Holiday. It's a fun tradition in our house and one we share with close friends and family. Great post!

ReplyDeleteLove good bread. I have an easy recipe that does 5 loaves at a time (whole wheat). I usually freeze 3 of the loaves for later.
