Growing up one of seven, this classic Norman Rockwell image takes me back to a time when it really was all about the Turkey. I guess in many respects for some folks it still is all about the turkey and the time we share enjoying one another. Is it about time to talk turkey at your table? Oh, just a reminder, say a little grace, give thanks and cherish those that prepared the bountiful feast set before you. If you are the host, then pat yourself on the back and enjoy your day.
Images from illustrator Norman Rockwell, museum is located in Stockbridge Mass.

There will be about 25 of us around the table- so we will be talking a lot of turkey. I'm looking forward to the extended family gathering even more than the food- It's such a wonderful day. You have fun with your family and friends-Happy Thanksgiving darlin'.

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving with your family today Patricia ~ gobble, gobble. Enjoy!
As empty nesters we have downsized from turkey to capon. Still enough to share with several home-bound neighbors. Not so much we have turkey until Christmas! Have fun with your sprouts, brussels and your own.

Turkey will be one of the 3 meats served at Nan's table today. And yes, always grace and thanks first. Have a happy.
Before we begin our meal, we all hold hands and say "hands around the table" and one by one tell each other what we are thankful for. But the time it's the last person's turn, all eyes are watered with happiness.
Happy Thanksgiving Patricia!
Patricia, I am the oldest of eight, so we will have about 30 at out family celebration! Happy Thanksgiving, we all have so much to be grateful for.
Lovely! Happy Thanksgiving! There were many at our childhood TG table and the menu included lasagna as well as turkey. I also loved to pick at the olive dish!! Putting a pitted black olive on each finger and eating them one by one....
I am about to head out, potato souffle and cranberry sauce in hand. The turkey is waiting...
Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours! xo
So glad I've found your blog. It brightens my day!

oh my goodness, how i love that first illustration ... look at that bird and look at the pure satisfaction (with perhaps a hint of exhaustion) on her face ... priceless!
i am extra thankful to you, dear pve for many things as you celebrate thanksgiving ... for being and doing everything that you say ... designing, creating and inspiring an artful life to oh so many in this wonderful community ... you always lead us in so many thoughtful ways ... and if it wasn't for you, i might still be sitting on the fence, thinking about joining in ... thanks always for that first comment that brought more joy than you can imagine!
a sincere happy thanksgiving as you gather with those you love in celebration ...

Yes, I was the hostess. So I'm rather pooped. But happy. For myself, it's all about the cooking.... much more than the eating. I do like the side dishes best, I think. I do hope you had a wonderful day. We all have so much to be thankful for. Getting to know you is certainly something I am grateful for!
i would love for you and your readers to join the discussion on my post "giving thanks," about what we're all thankful for:

It was a quiet day with just the handful of family I have. But it's all a blessing.
