Did you know that the word "cordial" can conjure up images of "warm and friendly" or perhaps an invigorating "liqueur." Tonight I shall gather with girlfriends for a "cordial" or an "aperitif." We will meet to chat about a book and also to be "cordial" with one another. There is something about making time for girlfriends.
So, what about a "cordial welcome" and a heartwarming outing with friends. Did I mention, we do have a designated driver!
"cordial" always makes me think of Anne of Green Gables. Your day with friends sounds lovely!
ReplyDeleteI am all for gathering with girlfriends, being 'cordial' and toasting one another with a cordial. I adore my special time with special friends. It refuels my soul. Enjoy your time. What book are you discussing?

I enjoy my time with my friends. I love how even through the busy schedules of being a mom, my friends will take the time to spend a little girlfriend time. Friend time is the best medicine or daily dose of vitamin needed for a healthy soul.

The word cordial always reminds me of the "Anne of Green Gables" series, when her friend Diana accidentally got drunk on raspberry cordial.
ReplyDeleteThe first time I heard the word "cordial" was in relation to syrupy filled chocolates as a child. It was quite awhile before I learned the source of the syrup. . . and the word. Your cordial gathering with friends sounds so good right now. I have loads of work tugging at me and I'm just not in the mood. Talking books and sipping cordials sounds much more agreeable. Have fun! (Oh, Rose's Lime Juice, I've loved it since childhood. It was always in the cupboard, and I begged for teaspoon sips of it. It's no wonder I ended up ordering Vodka Gimlets in my younger, bar hopping days).
ReplyDeleteYes, cordial is something that many people have forgotten to be with all of those we encounter. Cordials with friends is the best!
ReplyDeleteLove nights out...cocktails, books and good company is always a great combination.
ReplyDeleteHave fun!
Best,
Michelle

Making time for friends can sometimes be so hard. I always feel like I could be doing so many other things. Inevitably, I feel a little guilt when I am not busy working on all those things that I deem to be so important. But, when I finally do make time to be with my friends, I wonder why I haven't made it my #1 priority. Those connections are so worth it!
ReplyDeleteAHHH- love book clubs! esp. if its meeting with a quaint girls cocktail party! I am decorating an event for one of my clients at her book club party! I love your lime juice illustration!
