gracious gowns

The bevy of beautiful maidens wearing gracious gowns - pve design wedding illustration
The bridesmaids wore the most gracious gowns, in a black orchid silk, from the back some had bows and others a layered sash detail.  Each wore a glorious head-piece made of fabric inspired to look like a flower, with silky tendrils hung ever-so-lightly, topped with a chic net for a very glamourous touch. How wonderful and gracious of the bride to select a silhouette in black that perhaps these gorgeous gals shall might actually wear again.
Do you have a gracious gown at the ready for a special event?

This gracious gal has all the perfect tips for living an artful life, and "lucky me" is featured today.  Thank-you Mindy Lockard for including me this week which is all about living graciously as well as tasteful tips.  Mindy is all about sharing manners each month!

  1. Another beauty in your series. How many gowns have we had that could never be worn again??? These look fab! I do keep a couple of things handy that are classic and have bailed me out on occasion.

  2. I like this one, how it is the gowns that are special with the hint of who is behind the lil black dress. Making the day truly belonging to the bride and her selections.

  3. This is a wonderful piece in your collection ~ it's lovely. I do actually have a few black gowns that I've worn to Naval Balls hanging in my closet. They are very classic gowns so I've been able to keep them for years.

  8. I found a great black dress years ago with layers of tulle on top which is my go-to-party dress! How can we go wrong with black, unless of course "white" or cream is an option! Like the Sargeant painting of the woman in white.

  15. I do enjoy slipping into a gracious gown - so much that sometimes I think I was born into the wrong era.
I love how you've captured each of maidens' individual lines.

Thank you for joining our Teaching Taste Series! It is a pleasure hosting such a gracious and talented artist on our blog!

  16. Hi Patricia
I love the sound of the color 'black orchid'. What a stunning rendition you have done of the gorgeous gals.
I have a bronze taffeta off the shoulder gown with matching beaded heels that I got to accept a Design Award. It has been sitting in my closet for the last year and every so often I bring it out and hang it and gaze upon it. Unfortunately there are not too many occassions to wear a long formal gown these days. But I might plan a formal dinner party just for the fun of seeing everyone dressed up.

  20. Black gowns are my favorite for bridesmaids! And besides a closet full of LBDs, I always turn to my lapis lazuli blue silk gown for special events!

And you...The Gorgeous Artist - what a fantastic interview. I didn't think I could like you any more than I already did... :)
