pve design dilemma

pve design new blog layout - 1.

pve design new blog format - pve logo wallpaper - 2.

pve design has a dilemma, I am in love with two new blog layouts.  Such a problem.  I can hardly choose myself as I love both of these re-dos for my blog so I thought I would show my esteemed readers and take a survey.  Which one do you like, the one which is clean and works well with my web-site, or the fun pve design patterned wallpaper backdrop?

1.  clean  pve design green ground (like my site)
2.  pve design logo wallpaper background.

The designer can add the bird logo wallpaper behind the solid green too which means that there will be another one to love.  Choices just kill me.  It is like the pickle aisle, I just want them all, bread and butters, dills, gherkins, cornichon and those big juicy deli ones too.
Nothing like being in a "pickle!"

I love them both and am favoring the 1.  (top one) When it is all finished and UP, I shall reveal the talented genius who made it happen!  Please tell me - which one strikes your fancy?

I like them both, however, if I had to chose.....(drumroll please).
I would select #2 - it is fun to look at.
I'm not back-pedaling because I like the clean lines of #1. However, #2 would be my preference.

Good Luck w/your mission.

Purple Flowers, I know, no.2 is so fun, right.
My daughter loves that one too!
Thanks for your opinion. I value each and every one of you!

i love the wallpaper - #2 - play around with a few posts on both and see what looks right - i can see why you might go with the green clean #1 - it may work better with pictures and text - but the bird wallpaper is fresh and fun and i love the drawing with it - very spring like

P~ I too love them both. I think if had to make the choice myself-I would go with #1. Your illustrations are so amazing that I'm afraid the gorgeous bird wallpaper might distract from them.
Must be the 'artist'side of me speaking...

ps. thanks for all your help with my blog - i made it to one year today - couldn't have done it without your encouragement and tips. thanks a million.

Number 1 is awesome!
Number 2 is way too busy for showing off pics of designie items. If it was an all text blog, that would be different.

heidi-
yep, that is the reel that keeps playin in my head, busy 2. so 1 keeps saying "pick me!"
I know I can count on my peeps. my blog peeps to help.
thanks-

My first pick was # 2. Then I made both designs larger and now I put in my opinion for # 1. I think I would find it easier to read.

Anonymous said...

I would say; Stick to the (business) image, so no.1.

But I love the second one. Hmn, now thàt was a big help from me, wasn't it?.....oh my, sorry but, just go for the first one. That was my very first intuitive choise.

Happy Monday Patricia!
I love them both and can see how hard it would be to make one choice.
#1 I love because of the simplicity and makes your art pop right off the screen.

#2 is fun and whimsy but I think your art gets lost or fights for attention. I do love the drawing in the corner.

OK my final answer is number ONE!

It will be fun to see what you pick. Enjoy! xoxo

Hello-
I like both but I think I like #1 better. It reminds me of May-December but I put them next to each other and they have a totally different look. #2 is too busy for me . . . I really enjoy your blog.

Mrs. Limestone said...

I like the drawing in #2 better. What about adding a little bit of the wallpaper (but with more transparency so its not quite as distracting) around the header and then leaving the bottom green. That way your words aren't competing with the pattern.

pavlova said...

Well the problem is that you have come up with two great designs -- I love them both! However, that being said, I will cast my vote for #1 and perhaps you can use the other for a signature fabric??? Wouldn't that be cool.....

J said...

#1! I like them both though.

ArchitectDesign™ said...

I prefer #1, even though #2 is beautiful, just because it's less of a distraction from the posts and your artwork! I love the incorporation of the bird motif though -maybe 2 shades of green so the contrast isn't so great and #2 would work?

Formerly known as Frau said...

Both great #1 is less busy but #2 is my fav. Good Luck.

I already emailed you with my vote, but I want to tell ya again. I'm in love with number 2! But now I also want to see option one with the logo wallpaper as well.

Kwana said...

Oh boy. You know me. Simpler is better and I always say go with your gut. I like the cleaner lines and simplicity of no 1 and the header of no 2. I make you crazy because I love you and I can:) I know you will work it out. 1 is beautiful as it is though. You will have enough beautiful artwork to keep it interesting.

Susan said...

I adore number 2! It is so fabulous! I would love to look at that every day.

littlebyrd said...

Both are very cool. If I had to choose just one though I would go with #1. You crack me up with your play on words - love it!

Anonymous said...

No.1! But with the banner of No.2.

kate said...

Hi, I like wallpaper 2, its seems
more your style, your a little funky and fun, not so clean and organized. hope this helps, always love your blog

I'm new on your scene, but I'm going to vote anyway:) Design #1 without a doubt. It has whimsy and weight, and makes a wonderful impact. It makes the most of that fabulous green and of the graphic. I fell in love with it as soon as I saw it, before I knew you were trying to make a decision. It's like Elizabeth Arden's red door: An elegant, promising entry to all the irresistible detail inside.

Choice #2, the wallpaper, is cute but not timeless. It's a screen door, not an entryway. But either way, your artwork and your personality will carry you though!

I really do love them both! I think with Spring here, #2 speaks to me with the birds everywhere and the chic artist from the waist down. Love it! It has a wonderful Spring aura.

Commenters-
Wow. How good does it feel to see all these comments! I can always count on my readers to give me direction. I think I may have to flip a coin!
Stay tuned for the unveiling.

I LOVE them both, but I am partial to the logo with the bag. So I go with the 2nd design.
Can't wait to see the new design up and running!!!!

Congrats...Cant wait to see the outcome.

JMW said...

I like them both, but I think the first one has cleaner lines and may be easier on the eyes when reading online content. I like the green very much. Cheers!

Making it Lovely said...

I love #2, but I think it might be too overpowering. What about a combination – the illustration from #2 and the hand-drawn borders, but with the solid background of #1?

GrannySmithGreen said...

Decisions decisions! My ten cents: love the simplicity of #1, love the fun of #2. I didn't help one little bit! You couldn't go wrong either way!

Summer is a Verb said...

I really wanted to like #2 the best but I think it may be a little too distracting. When I enlarged #1 I immediately noticed the boxed items. When I enlarged #2my eye went to the wallpaper. So as pretty as they both are I think #1 is best suited for displaying all of your lovelies. And, I am waiting with bated breath for the designer unvieling!

Laura said...

The first one (clean) hands down!

Unknown said...

Oh I love the top one! Next I will need you to come design my new layout for mjmstudio. Well, can't wait to see what you pick!

Love them both.... #1 is easier on my eyes! :)

Rachel said...

I favor the top one! A full wallpaper is a little busy for my eyes, after a long day at the computer, even if it is fun!

inkWELL Press said...

I think choice #1 is easier to read and focuses more on what you have to say and your artwork (which is what I always enjoy seeing!). I do like the wallpaper, though. Perhaps put it behind the solid green? It's a pretty fun little print!

The 5 Bickies said...

I am probably a date late and a dollar short but am going to add my 2 cents anyway. From the options you have given,I prefer #2.

Is it an option to do the header from #2 with a solid green or more subtle bird patterned background?

Brillante Interiors said...

To tell you the truth I believe the present one is the best.
But if I need to choose between #1 and #2 I would go with #1.
That green though will be contrasting and at times conflicting with other colours or other shades of green.
The wallpaper is beautiful too but again it may become too busy with lots of pictures and text.
Think about "easy reading"

Jess Constable said...

I like Design 2 with a solid green background. Could that be done?

Best of luck with the new design!!! So exciting. :)

Julia said...

Both are fantastic, deary! But I have to say that I favor the first one! I like that the logo can sing solo at the top like that.

By the way, I loved the Morton Salt girl image of you as a little girl :)

Roque said...

I prefer design #1 because I like to read blogs that are clean, easy to read, and less distracting. I LOVE that green color!

jae said...

I would choose number 1 for the same reason so many have already said....it needs to be clean or your artwork with clash or even worse get lost on the page. That being said, I do love the header on choice two and am wondering if you can't make that the header in number 1. It still has your birds, but it has your illustration which is who you are and what you do.

Visual Vamp said...

#1 with #2 banner (which is so cute!)
And maybe change the color seasonally -the green is great for spring, maybe pink for summer, orange for fall, blue for winter - well you get the idea. More work for you ha ha
And this is coming from a girl still using the tired blogspot template ha ha.
You are so talented you cute thing!

#1 has longevity. #2 is fun and will look great for spring and summer months, but might seem funny at the end of this year. I love love love the header for #2 though. As a couple readers have suggested can you use #2 header for the #1 design? Such a difficult choice!

Easy and Elegant Life said...

I lean to the first as it will distract less from your images. Just a thought. An embarrassment of riches as they are both great.

So Haute said...

I like #1 layout with #2 banner! Both look great but i agree with everyone's comments that #2 is a bit busy and may distract readers from the actual content!

annechovie said...

Both are great, Treeba, but I think I like the second better. Can't wait to see your final pick!

Mary said...

Is it too late - I vote for #3....a small border of the wall paper which is so darling and happy - but then the body - which is the area surrounding your work - would be plain and this is so important for showing you talent !

I vote for the combo

Kim said...

Is it crazy of me to say that I love the simple green background BUT with your apron-self {'cause I'm assuming it is you} with the shopping bag?!

My fav-O-rite - that's my vote!

Meg Trainer said...

i love number 2...it is whimsical and fun!!!

Renae Moore said...

I like both as well....#2 is whimsical and I like that, #1 is organized and I like that too. My first feeling when I looked though went for #2!
Can't wait to see what you decide.

simply seleta said...

Am I too late? [huffing and puffing from running over here]

Okay, I LOVE 1 [one]. It's clean, embraces your trademark color, and is a quiet backdrop for your illustrations.

2 is good, but not as much your style. More fun and playful, which is great. But I'm thinking it would be far too busy against your lovely artwork.

Thanks for including us!

You're going to hate me for adding another suggestion...but...:-)

I like header graphic of #2, with the solid green background of #1. You have such lovely artsy bits that I think the wallpaper -- although beautiful -- would take away from the art? I think?

ANYHOO -- they each are quite lovely!

Leciawp said...

I love them both and whatever you choose will look great. I think #1 will look best as it don't distract/detract from your content. I often find it hard to read blogs with too much going on, on the page. Good luck - what fun!!

ABSOLUTELY NOT MARTHA said...

i'm new here--so hey.
my two cents: initially i was drawn to #2, it's fun. but it probably makes more sense for you to go with #1.

rebecca said...

Oooh, that's really hard! I like them both and I'm very attracted to the whimsy of #2, but I think #1 is so streamlined, it won't distract from your beautiful art.

Janet said...

No. 1! Keep the design simple, and let your drawings sing!

Karena said...

I am drawn to the Clean lines # 1. I think # 2 is darling, however your images will fill the space!

gina said...

I love both, but the clean lines and bold color of #1 is my choice. Especially when enlarged as a full page.

Unknown said...

I am late to vote, but #1 is cleaner. Your work & posts are the star. Too many competing images in #2.

N said...

late to the comment party (as usual)...both are wonderful but I think 1 will showcase all the loveliness that is pve a bit better. I would be worried that some darling tidbits might get lost in that gorgeous wallpaper...which, I think, you should actually MAKE into wallpaper.

will you help me with mine??? i love #2 for you...

1 is wonderful -- wonderful branding, color, style and grace.

I got an amazing present in the mail today with an envelope that bears an uncanny resemblance to #2 :) I loved the logo pattern on the envelope and love it here as well! So fun and different.

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you for the great book + WONDERFUL artwork.

They are both charming, Patricia.
My favourite is the first one. I adore all that clean green!

I love the bottom one, because pattern always makes my day!!

I'd like to give you what I associate with each, rather than choosing. Then you have an example of the way people (or at least me) persive you/your company/your site.

#1
clean, clear, simple, straight forward, modern, sophisitcated-but not stodgy, the green is enlivening, easy to read, better logo stabilty. You have a really great logo. The way the logo appears here is more recognizable/more like the way you've been useing it. This makes it easier to link your message to your logo. Overall stronger branding here.

#2
busy, active, hand-crafted, creative, illustrator-like (illustrator=designer, caligrapher-ish), fun, freindly, casual. The logo as the background dilutes it's punch.

I guess you can tell my choice after all. #2 would not be a weak choice, though. Just consider the message you want to send and try to keep all the visual linked to that message.

#2...definitely!
