Island-hopping along with island-shopping! 
Tis so much fun to shop on location, and to associate a memory of a special purchase from a far away spot.  A bag, a beach hat, a skirt or pareo, items that add sunshine to your ensemble.  Books are also wonderful to bring back and savour, a local cook-book or local artist's book.  Summer would not be complete without a ferry ride from the Eastern shores to Nantucket, Martha's Vineyard or Block Island.  What is your favorite island?

    I love shopping in the used book stores in Provincetown, MA where I'll be in 3 weeks! Can't wait!!

    No island hopping for me this summer (tear falls from my eye) but lots of shopping, only to resell (fingers crossed) at the flea market!

    Thanks Kwana. I think books are one of the things that will be the best value (as everything else is generally marked up!)and something I collect normally anyway. Some of these bookstores in Provincetown are really fabulous with hard to find old titles. Last year I got this huge book on Beaux Arts architecture that I've always wanted but never been able to get a copy of or find for under $1k!!!! I got it at a bargain bin price comparitively!

    I would love to see Martha's or Nantucket... last time on the East Coast... we LITERALLY missed the boat... and it was the last one of the day... sigh!

    Thank goodness for the yummy lobster dinner on the marina to sooth the pain!

    Your illustration REALLY makes me want to hop a plane to the East... and shop!

    I will be in Highlands, NC. I will be trying not to shop, even though the folk art and antiques will be hard to pass by.

    I hope to return to Martha's Vineyard someday!

    I'd like to return to Nantucket or Shelter Island, haven't been to either in years. And I think the wineries on the North Shore are calling my name...
