run for the blossoms

Today is a major event, "Run for the Roses" - The Kentucky Derby.
Growing up in Kentucky, there was always excitement leading up to the first saturday in May.
Much commotion around a fast and furious race.  I always felt proud of the city, the blossoms, the crowds coming from all over the world to be a spectator at Churchill Downs.

My sister Liz, painted this delightful "Dogwood for Derby" - I love the dogwood flower, the fence, the fountain and the home in the distance.  Please leave Liz a comment.  She is working hard to build a collection for sale, and this sweet little painting would be in bloom all year.
Will you be watching the race today and taking delight in a mint julep served in a silver derby cup sporting a hat with lovely blossoms?  Run for the blossoms or perhaps a bit of Kentucky bourbon.
