the art of balance

A dear friend congratulated me the other day, "You have finally achieved the art of balance."
Well, not like this cat lady above but I do try to find balance every day.  Just when you think you've got it, things happen to throw you off your balance.  Life is a balance, right?
I ask you how do you juggle life?  How do you balance everything?
Do you take time to hold on to friendships?  Do you take time out to play and have some fun?
What about couple time and romance?
Oh, and what about the babies, the children, work, fun?
How do you balance it all?
Sometimes life is truly like a circus.

Congrats to the Louisville Cardinals on last night's winning game.
I thought about the players and how they balance the stress that must go with winning and losing.
Everything requires the art of balance, right?

  1. Indeed, that delicate art of balance is a hard trick to not only master, but to maintain. And there's the rub I think. Maintaining it, in the increasingly demanding expectations we put on ourselves.

I realised, only a few years ago, that not working on weekends is my way of maintaing balance. Doesn't always quite pan out that way, when projects are crazy, but just having that distinction between time off and time on is my sanity clause.

  3. For as long as I can remember, my wise Gram has told her grandchildren that no one can have it all. While that did not mean much to me as a small child it does at this point in my life. A happy marriage is at the top of my list followed by my children so from time to time other things slip but it doesn't bother me as much as it used. Give and take right?

  4. Not easy to find this hot commodity. I am trying day by day, small steps in the right direction, balance the needs with the wants, the health with the indulgence, the toughness with softness.
Thank you for this reminder for balance, not to mention the glorious pics.

  7. Fantastic pics. I love the woman in the catsuit. I just take things as they come. Need to work on the balance part a bit more.

  8. Ahh... it's all in the balance, isn't it? We feel like circus seals on a ball sometimes, but always find time to clap! We find that if we do one of our many duties well, and not perfectly, then that's good enough.

  9. I'm still working on "balance." I'm quick to cancel plans, let things go etc. to accommodate a client. But I have learned to ask for help when I need it...from friends, family and even if I have to pay for it! And it gives such satisfaction when I can return the favor.

  11. balance is an art for sure. On another note...I was leaving a long note or comment after reading your interview which I very much enjoyed and when I went to publish the comment...it disappeared. I'll try again...

  12. Patricia, God gave me no choice. With the medical issues these last two years I was stopped cold. I needed to regroup and prioritize; take time I needed for rehab again and again and now once again.

The good things are my gratefulness to family and friends, spending more time with them.

Oh and I received the beautiful note cards today. Thank you!

    xoxo

  14. I agree with CDS some days are easier than others. Meditation before I start the day helps me ever so much, as does the gratitude journal. take care. xxpeggybraswelldesign.com

  16. Jennifer,
It was the dog getting skunked that threw me off balance. I think that's the art, to balance what get's tossed one's way.
