My daughter had a wonderful tutor yesterday who made a special impression upon her to always have
your dictionary nearby when studying.
It is important to know the meaning of your words.
I always loved this Kate Spade clutch which looks like a modern english dictionary.
Yes, you are your words, make the most of them.
It is so much easier if you can make sense of the meaning of the actual word.
If you don't know it, look it up.
You might be afraid when you don't know a word, but never be afraid to fail.
Be afraid not to try.
Be afraid not to try.
I love this idea of writing words in an old book.
Words on top of words.
Words should never hurt.
Learning new words and their meanings should feel like a hug.

Make the most of them.
What is a word you had to look up recently?
Do you do crosswords, play scrabble or have any favorite word games?

I look up words often. Especially when I'm reading a historical romance. For my my Kindle word lookup feature is a godsend.
Excellent reminder Patricia!
I am still looking for the photo of Miss Belle (my sweet Himalayan; which I thought I had sent you some time ago!

I love words. We were recently playing a game with my family, and you had to guess who gave the statement. I was identified immediately for "use of a big word." Ha ha! Also, dictionary.com is my new favorite friend for checking spelling....
I love words and reading...my latest fave is a daily email that sends a word a day...all somewhat obscure and interesting.
How wonderful that your daughter had an inspiring tutor!
Enjoy the sunshine today!! xoxo
The beauty of Kindles is the Oxford Dictionary so all you do is click and the definition comes up! Though it was stumped on some Jewish terms that appeared in The Innocents... That last image is beautiful!

Such very good advice. I can see the dictionary I was given in '82 from where I'm sitting right now. My mother inscribed it, "May you never be at a loss for words."
I am always telling my kids to look up words in the dictionary. it's so important but most of the time they google it. I guess I will have to get used to that. Great reminder and great post!
Great post and wonderful reminder. My kids don't look up thins anymore -- they just google it. I guess I will have to get used to that!
I love this post and how you think! you are amazing!
I hate word games, but I love the look of that clutch/dictionary. If only real dictionaires were that pretty. Also love that written quote. Awesome. xo
Scrabble is one of my favorite games. My mother and I used to play.
Love words + reading! Just the fact we can speak words of meaning, has me in awe! Adore the KS bag. happy reading everyone. xxpeggybraswelldesign.com
I love this post! And can relate so well. English, being my third language, kept me from writing my blog. I'm delighted I gave it a try :) Wish I had done so sooner!
Hope you are well, Patricia.
I'm catching up from being away ~ xo,
