This is an aerial view of what I like to call my paint desk. All my art supplies are ready and set for me to paint. I keep my micron pens in a little travel bag. Fresh water is very important when I paint. It needs to be clear so I change often. If the water gets muddy, trust me, your paintings will be muddy too.
My most favorite paints are a boxed set of Pelikan paints. They travel well and are easy to work with.
I bought this Ikea -Alex flat file rolling drawers which is home to prints, some original work and paper.
One of my sons assembled it when he was home and it did take him a few hours but it works well and was reasonably priced. It is very heavy before it is assembled but comes with wheels which make it easy to move around my studio.
Here is the Pelikan set all shiny and new. It comes as a water color set or as an opaque set. I really love it. If I need larger quantities of paint then tubes are also available. You should be able to find them on line or at a nearby art supply shop. Most art supply stores are happy to order for you if you do not see.
So that is how you create your beautiful artwork! You seem very organized and ready to go. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteIt is nice to go "behind the scenes" with you, Patricia...thanks you sharing! xoxo
ReplyDeleteKathleen,
ReplyDeleteThank-you. I shall share some of my messes too.

Sandy,
Thanks for your comment. I realize that so many people want to go "behind the scenes" so I am working on sharing more of that.
Can you share some travel tips for packing. I tend to over pack wherever I wander.

What is it about paint supplies?! I don't paint, but love to see them. Maybe its that they result in such lovely gifts!!

Joan,
ReplyDeleteI think good supplies in the kitchen, in the studio and in the home make things run smoother. I can always tell a lot about the supplies kept in one's home. Sharp knives, well stocked pantry.....fresh linens.
All of it does add to the love of a house....and a studio.

I'm with Joan - something so inspiring about paint supplies - even though I can't paint, I still love browsing! Love your creative organization!!
ReplyDeletevery good Posting ... still is making useful articles in the future
ReplyDeleteI like your postings http://internetpositif.com/
I remember an art professor continually reminding students how important it was to keep a tidy working area. I think you would have received an A+ in his class :).
ReplyDeleteStacey,
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for popping in....yes, I am one of those that cannot start the day unless my bed is made.
I do function much better when my day is organized.

Patricia, thank you for sharing your work space. I need a rolling cart like yours and will definitely look into the Pelican paints!

2013 Artists Series
I love seeing your art set-up! I have an "Alex" cabinet and it's been one of the best things that I ever bought - iy wasn't easy to assemble, though (all those cads!).
ReplyDeleteSending sunshine & hugs your way! xo
pretty set up! love seeing inside an artists space!
ReplyDeletelove this peak behind your work process. Does the table stay so neat while you work or is this 'photo ready'? hehe.
ReplyDeleteThanks for showing us your "stuff", Patricia. As a fellow artist, I am always curious what other artists use to create their beautiful work.I work in oil, but I so admire anyone who does watercolor like you do. I think it takes much more skill, thought and planning! And your paintings are wonderful!
ReplyDeleteHave fun getting lost in creativity and beauty.
Love,
Mary

Hi Patricia, The colors are so yummy; and your feet are cute, too. I hope that you are ending a huge care package to the sweetie that assembled it for you.
ReplyDeleteBe well.
