monday motivation - loving others

"My idea of Christmas, whether old-fashioned or modern, is very simple: loving others. Come to think of it, why do we have to wait for Christmas to do that?" ~ Bob Hope

I don't know about you, but the holidays should be simple and our motivation should be about loving others.  As my Father loves to say as Bob Hope said, "Why do we have to wait for Christmas?"

Yesterday, I went to a concert of Handel's Messiah in Irvington.  I sat there and listened to the beautiful voices and thought about love and how the holidays can be sad for some and joyful for others.  We can each find motivation in doing something simple to show our love.  Love your neighbor, your family, a friend or even a creature today and feel your heart grow.  What sorts of old-fashioned or modern ways do you show love at Christmas?

Winner of the Smashbox gift-away goes to Patti, Winner was selected by random number.

  1. Giving to others, as I do all year 'round. I believe Christmas should be in the hearts of people all through the year. It would make people smile more often.

  2. Such a lovely post to start the week, Patricia. It's all too easy to forget what the season is all about. Thanks for the reminder that love is the reason why we celebrate and that it should be at the center of our lives year-round. Your sweet illustration perfect for this post. XO

  7. Hi Patricia, Yes, love others. But give ourselves the gift of being present, truly present--if only for a few minutes every day.

  8. Still making a lot of my Christmas gifts (I sew) and still shopping, wrapping and mailing gifts to my kids and new granddaughters - knowing it's not as practical as sending money. What a lovely post and simple reminder of Christmas meaning. Thank you.
