There is something so empowering about taking time alone for an awkward self imposed sort of silent retreat. A moment of silence in this world of sound pumped in, piped in and pulsating. How many of you out there take time to just observe yourself in the mirror, alone, in perfect silence?
Forgive me for my silence. It is golden and much needed.
Not to worry, I shall be back with clanging cymbals and maybe even a gong.
Silence is wonderful. Please enjoy it.

ReplyDeleteI would rather poke myself in the eye with a dull pencil than spend time in the mirror...but that's probably just me. :)
ReplyDeleteI envy those who can shut their mind off for any amount of time. Any tips?

Just recently moved to the most silent place in the world. One can literally hear each leaf fall on the ground in the day, feet walking on the carpet, and literally hear a pin drop. Quite a time for personal reflection, for certain. (like the art image you posted with this post) My best. xo
ReplyDeleteWow! I just love Helene's paintings. I'm a Finn myself and she is my favorite Finnish artist.
ReplyDeleteSometimes a break is a good thing. Enjoy it. But there is no way I'd do it in front of the mirror. Gah!
ReplyDeletereflection into the soul is a good thing....if I was reflecting in front of a mirror the silence would be followed by a few tears and swear words! Enjoy your break and have a wonderful day!
ReplyDeleteWonderful! So glad to have discovered your lovely blog; off to check out your shop :)

It is the best way to recharge oneself.

I was just thinking today how overwheming the world is - all the information, all the things I want to follow, read, see, do. I remember I used to just drive to work in silence but replaced that with Sirius radio. I think I need to go back to my silence retreats in the car. :D
