fresh peaches

My sister sent me this photo of my Dad.  He adores fresh peaches and loves asking others how long it takes for a peach tree to bear fruit?

We take for granted living in the land of plenty but my Dad always wonders how people can starve in some countries when we have so much.  His entire life has been devoted to building Paul's - a business based on bringing the freshest produce and feeding many.  His longevity, I think may have something to do with eating so much fresh fruit and veggies.  It could also be that he found his purpose early in life and stuck with it.   In his 85th year, he still loves peach season and finding the freshest crop around.

What a fantastic post! I love your comment that he found his purpose early and stuck with it and I would add that hard work, good food and a love of the earth added to his good life and longevity. I'm grateful for people like your dad who've dedicated their life's work to providing good food for others.

It's a fabulous advert for the power of eating lots of fresh fruit and veggies! To me, absolutely nothing symbolises summer more than biting into a freshly picked peach, still warm from the sun, and letting the nectar-like juice dribble everywhere. Bliss!

What an amazing picture of a wonderful Dad. I think last year when I was complaining about the peach prices you mentioned it takes 7 years for a peach tree to bear it's first crop? I wish you had said his secret to long life was a cupcake a day now that is something I could do! lol......he is a cutie!

What a peach your dad is! And a great example for the rest of us to find your purpose and stick with it -- and to eat lots of fruits and veggies. There's nothing better than biting into a fresh juicy peach on a hot summer day - or a peach cobbler on a cool summer evening.

Your dad - what a great guy! Paul's one of my favorite stores in town. And it's hard to go in there for just one thing - I come out with so much more b/c everything is so fresh and enticing!

What a fun photo! And I have to agree peach season is wonderful!

There is nothing better than being able to pick the peach off a tree and eating it right then and there.

There is little that is more delicious or satisfying than a perfectly ripe peach, picked from the tree when it is still warmed by the sun, eaten with glee and juices running down one's chin. It is a memory I have from my boyhood, that I will never forget. And always treasure. Reggie
