How often do you take the time to give yourself a little praise?
Do you keep a journal to track your progress or check your goals and achievements. Perhaps you have some sort of "trophy" or "award" to remind you of your talents. Is it proudly displayed on your desk? Joan Fontaine above sits at her desk keeping her home affairs in order.
I love how her Oscar is standing right there.
What a great incentive to keep working.

My dear husband has what he calls "tombstones" in his office awarded after a deal is done.

Some people award themselves certain purchases or treats for a job well done.
Perhaps an author's book being published or when the contract is signed.
Perhaps a Mother saving and awarding the family with an ice cream treat or field trip somewhere full of adventure.

During the business with intention workshop, I had an "aha" moment.
Here I am working away and pushing myself to keep going without taking time to give myself any sort of praise or award to mark a milestone.
I am planning and scheming some sort of praise in the form of a celebration.
If you work from home or on your own, how do you reward yourself with a so called trophy or little accolade?
A Mother's work (and an artist's work) is never done.
We work tirelessly for our families so this is a reminder to give yourself a pat on the back.
I am cheering you on with praise.
Do share what sort of accolades or incentives you might award yourself when a deal is done?

Oh, how I wish I knew how to do this..... please do tell how!
We were raised not to toot our own horn but given all that we do as wives, mothers, daughters and friends, we say "Toot away!" You get a big pat and gold star from us, PVE.
haven't considered this, interesting...I suppose my reward for a completed project etc. is being able to go outside, spend time with my children and such
My reward is freedom....to do whatever inspires me that day
rewards are having a happy family and a stress free day...a pedicure now and than is nice too!
I love giving accolades to others...but not sure I take time to celebrate myself.
Love that you planning a little celebration...you absolutely deserve it for all you do!!!

Agree with all who have written before me here - I think we are conditioned as women in business and at home to do for others and be people pleasers and facilitators. Taking time to praise ourselves was never part of the program. I like your initiative!!
Great post!
I grew up in a house that did not celebrate achievements, they were just expected of you. But then I met my husband, and he believes rewards are paramount to keeping the energy going. So now I try to celebrate milestones and such.
Sometimes the reward is simple, like sitting back and chilling a bit. And for big rewards, I have begun to purchase a piece of jewelry, so every time the piece is worn I remember the goal met. Sometimes at deadlines and such, I will wear a piece just to give me good luck and to keep my spirits up.
Thanks for writing this post, being reminded that accolades are good is so refreshing.

hmmm, I adore this post. I don't reward myself enough. xxpeggybraswelldesign.com
Such an interesting thought, and I know I don't do this enough. I think my response to praise is to keep working harder, but that's how I was raised. I smile and I keep going. You certainly deserve a ton of praise for the amazing talent that you have and that you illustrate so effortlessly. I treated myself last week by buying myself a small something on my birthday.
Hi Patricia, I don't celebrate milestone and achievements enough--but when I have a great sale, I buy a pair of shoes or take my big family out to dinner where we celebrate together. Mary
I think you deserve more than an accolade! You deserve a whole trip around the world and then back again for all you do :)
