fresh focus

Spring beckons a time of freshening up and allowing for renewal in our lives.
I really enjoyed the honesty of this post involving stress.
When we feel stressed, it affects everything and everyone around us.

Often - just the mere act of saying no or shutting down might leave you feeling that you are missing out but in fact when we make time to find our focus, it is in the clarity of space that we find the answers.

If you are feeling the affects of "modern anxiety"- what are some tips that help you to find a fresh focus?

  1. Our golden rule - no business after we get home! That way we are 100% there for our kids. But we're up and running early in the morning!

  2. Buzz-
Yes, always good to unplug and focus on what is most important. I think our kids need our 100% attention.
Our significant others do to! :)

  3. Living in the country helps a lot and being able to get outside in the fresh air and walk. Walking always seems to be the best head clearer.

Yes, I had a list to post of things that work for me and one thing I love is a simple walk in nature....

  5. I try to unplug when my family is home.....so nights and weekends I'm clueless to the world...okay maybe if I'm up early and the house is quiet...! It's hard to walk away!

  6. I unplug during the day--started unplugging about 8 months ago and realized how much more open I am (still addicted early morning and late evening--still a work in progress). To de-stress I read a verse of the Tao and my heart immediately goes still. Have a wonderful day. Mary

  7. I started turning my phone off at bed time and turning it on in the morning...baby steps? That desk image looks so peaceful, very inspiring to committing to unplugging more. x

  8. So many good suggestions here. Appreciating little details throughout the day helps me. The scent of the hyacinths blooming in our entry - the blue sky and lack of rain right now. The early green leaves on the trees in downtown Seattle. Taking even just a moment to notice and be thankful slows things down just a bit. Hope you get a moment to breath deep and unplug today. XO

  9. I have been going through some stressful times of late..I find that giving myself a little "me" time is helpful.... and trying really hard not to sweat the small stuff...! Like this morning...went to make the pot of coffee...and there was no coffee..I took a deep breath...and made a fresh pot of Earl Grey tea....Things could be a lot worse eh?

  12. I know this will sound very Pollyann-ish but when you think you have it bad, believing things are just intolerable? Look around. Aches and pains? Really? My friend is just now recovering from a two-year journey into hell with cancer. Husband ticks you off? I have friends who have lost their husband. Trying doing things on your own after 40+ years together. Don't want to sit down and pay those bills...waaaa, waaaaa. Aren't you glad you have the money to pay them?

I know. I know. Sounds a bit self-righteous but we really need to give ourselves a good shaking sometimes.

  13. I love it when the weather is warm enough for me to go sit out front in our andirondack chairs with a magazine while the kids play. Best unstresser I know!

  14. I'm doing too much right now and at times it catches up with me. I try to make it a point to unplug though and not get so sucked into the computer. Like right now, I'm signing off for the night!

  16. Patricia, just checked out the Phoenix and Vapor bar stools over at CB2. I'm kind of into the Vapor. Both look chic, but there's something extra slick about the Vapor. Happy decision making!

  17. One way-- and I just did this yesterday after my husband and I spent eight days with two of our grandchildren while their parents went on a break. I stayed home, and literally didn't leave the house! I got things done, vacuuming, dusting, that sort of thing. Even made dinner. That kept my focus in one area, and helped to unjumble my mind!

  18. Patricia, and thank you for stopping by my blog today. Your comments are always such a delight! Your post is very timely as it is something that is top of mind for me too. Yoga is my way of giving myself time to unplug and recharge; even just a few poses a day and some breathing can help. I think we all, especially those that blog, feel like it is hard to truly turn off.
