in the abstract

There is something so refreshing about taking time to enjoy life in the abstract.  This is a commission that I captured at a wedding and the more I admire the couple stealing away a moment in the left hand corner, I also love that larger than life abstract work of art and the huge drum light above. If you could own any work of abstract art, which famous artist would you look to?  Often I dream of one day creating large loose colorful abstracts when my new studio is finally ready.  I cannot wait to paint in the abstract.  Would you buy an abstract work of art?

  5. I'm not such a fan of abstract, I'm such a traditionalist! I prefer the work you've done!

  6. I adore abstract art....and have to say there is something different, special about this piece you're sharing today. I love how you've captured the people, yet that color in the artwork just draws me in and adds a certain joie de vivre to the illustration.

I continue to marvel at your talent!!!!!

  8. I'd love a Picasso. Going for the gold I am. I was just looking up abstract art and love the soft colors of Paul Klee.

I'm sure you'll enjoy your abstract art in your new space.

  12. I love this commission Patricia- it is so intimate. I feel like I can "almost" hear the couple in the corner and their conversation;)

Yes! I love abstract art. I am a huge fan of Michelle Armas' work and would love one of her large pieces in the barnroom! Michelle is mentioned as a "blog to love" in the current issue of the e-mag "House of Fifty"....

  14. Yet again another great blog post. I run the blog over at Game Apps and I love reading your blog because yours is what I aspire mine to look like. I was curious if you ever used oil based paints? Thanks for all you do!

  19. What a lovely capture of an interior and a mood. I have been buying and making abstracts lately and I am rather drawn to certain ones that really defy a category.
