tweed tailgate

This weekend, we look forward to going to our son's tailgate at Union College
My tweed Jacket is ready along with a plaid blanket and umbrellas.
I am preparing some treats to bring along, black bean dip, some fresh cheese, breads, fruit and a thermos of hot apple cider.  What sort of treats would you bring to a tail gate?

  3. What a fun plan for your weekend. Hope you get the perfect crisp, sunny autumn day for your tailgate! Your menu sounds delicious.
I'd love to add some pumpkin cupcakes with cream cheese frosting to your basket since it's Halloween weekend.
    Have fun! XO

  4. Enjoy the tailgate! We had such fun when we tailgated for a UK game next month.

(I know you've had so much going on, but just wanted to check on the illustration to see if it may be finished by the holidays? Would love to have it displayed in our home. Thanks again for doing it - I was thrilled to have been the winner of such a wonderful prize!)

  5. Ahhh, Patricia, I have such wonderful memories of the four years Alexandra spent at Union. The friends she made while there, are still such an important part of her life!!! Have a wonderful time. I can't wait to hear about it.

  6. I'll think of you as we traipse about a giant corn maze in Ohio... I'm all about the desserts at a tailgate - pumpkin cupcake, oatmeal cranberry cookies and anything chocolate! Have fun and hope the sun shines bright.

  7. Sounds wonderful...I really miss that area having lived in upstate NY (Kingston). My husband and I went to Siena College -- right down the road from Union! Anyway, for the tailgate: I would probably pack a cooler with some homemade pate, baguettes and cheeses, and some good, fresh apples (probably Macouns as they are my favorite). Also maybe some Chex mix for the road! And, I wouldn't be surprised if some beer or wine found its way into the cooler (along with the apple cider -- we have a 12 year old!) Hope you have fun in your tweed (and boots?) Union's a great college, and also for hockey -- do you ever go to any of the games? Our older son played hockey at UK for a while when he went there. Also, our younger son's goalie coach graduated from Union! If you go on the Thruway, wave to exit 19 for me!

I would bring fresh potato salad, baguette, cheeses and fresh apples, picked at a farm nearby.....
Hot tea in a thermos of course!
Your illustration is heavenly, all the colors of autumn!

  9. I didn't realize both of your kiddos were here in the Cap Region. Just to warn you, it is snowing here right now. Not sticking but it's a cold wet mess for sure. Ick!

  12. Oh, I bet you're excited - I would be! Sipping hot cider and eating snacks...looks like Union is the perfect setting. I would bring some hot chocolate and toasted pumpkin seeds.

    Have fun!
