While walking in the villiage of Southampton late yesterday afternoon in pursuit of a needle and thread to hem my new Kayce Hughes dress which has a definite air of graciousness. I popped in to a book seller to inquire about this book which is flying off the shelves. Could it have anything to do with our respect for elevating rules of civility during trying times?
My plan is to pour a wee martini after 5 and crank up the victrola and listen to some Billie Holiday and devour this book. Interested to know if anyone has read this yet?
I have not read this book, but it looks interesting. I'm adding it to my list.

PVE, I LOVE this book. Finished it last weekend and immediately turned back to page 1 to start the journey with Katey and her friends all over again! Happy reading.
ReplyDeleteWell I haven't even heard of it but with such an elegant cover and your illustrious description of a martini and jazz by which to imbibe it, I best find a copy of it in Australia. Pronto! Waiter, another martini please!
ReplyDeleteI haven't read this yet, but I do love the lifestyle of a bygone era! Meet you at 5!!!

Okay, I've found my next book, after I complete "The Secret History." And the martini and Billie Holiday sound perfect. :)
ReplyDeleteDevoured it in two days. The most exciting thing to happen in literature in quite a while. My new favorite. Hope you enjoy!
ReplyDeleteSouthampton?! Ahhhh...Best of Billie also resides on my iPod :)
ReplyDeleteI just finished it last night on kindle! I actually like it quite a bit, although some parts are rather improbable. Still, its an interesting read.
