Have you ever longed to visit a place.
Would you consider painting a place that you have never been?
I visited my Mother a few weeks ago and took some photos of her paintings which are happy, vibrant and full of life.
Funny, she painted Venice, although she has never even been.
I have been twice and I can feel the energy and joy in her work.
My Mother has always created with a real zest for life, exploration and self discovery.
Did I mention that my Mother had seven children.
She managed to find time to create art and raise a family full of personality.
Do you have art in your family or passionate artists that you admire?
Lovely, sparkling and vibrant with layers of depth. I think your mother was able to capture Venice so well because some of the my favorite things about that amazing place must match her own spirit. Wow, raising seven children and still creating an artful life? I'll remember that the next time I complain about not having enough time to paint. Thanks so much for sharing her delightful work! ReplyDeleteYes I'll remember that too next time I'll complain about having no time to paint! I decided yesterday afternoon that I need to make more of an effort, a bit more myself time...yes I'd love that :))

ReplyDeleteGorgeous paintings...I wish we had some talent in our family but sadly no!

Your mother sounds like one incredible woman..she must inspire you so!love the beautiful art that she has created..my sister always had a great eye for detail and a very good hand..but she became immunologist instead..finding cure for the body if not for the soul!! have a lovely day! xx meenal
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful upbringing you must have had with such an artistic mother. Her work is just wonderful and although she had never been to the place she painted, she was there in her art! In my family no one was interested in creating except me ;-( I was the odd man out, but my daughter is very, very creative so maybe this generation will have more who love to create.
ReplyDeleteOh, the passionate artists that I admire are my grandmother, who is longer here, but just enjoyed finding a lot of her pieces that had been stored away for years, and then my children's art...love their free use of color and shapes, just so much fun. Your mother's pieces are fantastic! Janell
ReplyDeleteSounds like a remarkable woman.. . like mother like daughter!

ReplyDeleteYour mother's art is simply beautiful! I see where you got your talent!!!
ReplyDeleteShe is a fine example to all of us who want to raise a happy, healthy family and live a life full of color and creativity.
My mother didn't paint but she was an amazing seamstress and needlepointer. Sadly, I did not pick up her skills in that department, but I think her creativity and love of home rubbed off on me.

ReplyDeleteThese are fabulous, your mum is one talented chick! Paint away, Mrs D....love 'em. K xx
ReplyDeleteYour mother's art is beautiful with its pops of color; they made me feel very peaceful looking at them! I don't know how she did it, with 7 children. How do you do what you do with 3? I sometimes wish my balance included more creative things, but I tell myself, one day at a time - that's what I can manage.
ReplyDeleteGod bless you and your mother, for the joy and happiness both of you have given to others!
Art is one of my beloved subjects - I'm drawn to the bold and happy colours in your Mama's pictures above. One does not have to visit a city to be able to capture it on canvas - bear in mind that the artist's imagination is very Rich.

your mom sounds awesome! that's interesting about Venice and her ability to capture it without seeing it. My husband's grandmother paints things that she sees in postcards and whatnot. She's so creative and talented
