Just the other day while decorating the house, I broke down and had a good Christmas cry. It happens every holiday season. Does this happen to you during the holidays? Nothing like a good cry to feel all better. Domestic Ease had a
good cry too. So much for, "you better not cry~"
When was the last time you had a good old cry? I am adding this book to my list for a little humor.... laughing and crying, that's the spirit!
I'm emotional so I do it often. Just let it go I say. It's the holidays.
ReplyDeleteI cry at the silliest things now days! I'm sure I will be crying at some point this holiday!
ReplyDeleteThat book cover is so funny!! And yes, I get overly emotional during the holidays, especially at midnight mass on Christmas Eve, I am just a blubbery mess...oh, and the old school Folgers commercial they still run with the son coming home and surprising his sister and parents. Part of the season I guess! Wishing you a very happy holidays PVE!!! xo
ReplyDeleteI never cry before but I want to when it is time to take it all down!
ReplyDeleteThe book really did make me smile, luv that cover pic.

The book looks hysterical...and I am right there with you on the good that a good cry can do -especially during the holidays when all that is good and not so good in the world seems magnified. I hope the good cry set you up for a great day! - Jeanne
ReplyDeleteThis morning as I drove away after dropping my little (5 yr old) girl off at school...she looked so big and small at the same time...it makes me tear up just thinking about it again.
ReplyDeletelove anything by Augusten, I'll have to check this out!
ReplyDeleteNo - i haven't cried...not yet....im' sure it's coming!
Patricia: When I wrote my latest post about my Grandmother, that is when I had my most recent cry. Bottom line: I miss her.
ReplyDeleteI think it was so kind of you to help "Serafina". You expressed a very generous gift to her, by lending her a helping hand. You were her Angel yesterday.
This is the time of year to take stock and be sentimental. I often well up this time of year! It also makes you miss those that are no longer hear with us to celebrate the holidays. Sniff. Happy holidays! xx
ReplyDeleteA good cry is so refreshing...
ReplyDeleteHysterical book jacket. I'm not much of a holiday crier except, like Kate at Party Resources, when I think of those no longer with us, like my very lovely mother.
ReplyDeleteYes, I actually had my moment today. The kids are off due to the ice and snow and one of them left a huge marker stain on our new sofa. That was my breaking point after an already stressful week. Oh, well. The cleaning company is coming tomorrow and I have your illustration in which to look forward. Life is good. :)
ReplyDeleteI have to say....I haven't had my Christmas cry...yet, but I just had a great laugh when I saw your post! Really funny!!!!
ReplyDeleteIt's not the holidays if somethings not burned and someone's not mad!
Hope you are feeling better ----hot tea and a fire do wonders for me.
Ho ho ho!!!!
xoxo Elizabeth
It's definitely an emotionally charged holiday. A lot of pressure (real or imagined) to make it wonderful...Having a good cry is healthy and so cleansing. I'm sure my floodgates will be bursting open any day now...over something as silly as not being able to find the good napkins! That cover is a riot.:)
ReplyDeleteH.H.
I actually had a Thanksgiving cry. Weird holiday to cry about, huh?
ReplyDeleteA good cry is good for the soul. I can be a bit emotional too cuz I always want to fix things. It bothers me to know others hurt or are without.
ReplyDeleteI am with others I am sure I will have a good cry as we get closer to Christmas. I miss my dad some days so much and of course our Kelly girl this will be the first year without her, even though we have Bo now, it doesn't lessen the ache.
Hugs to you my friend. xo
Tagged you on my blog :)

Thank you SO MUCH for this!!! It is so nice to know we are not alone! And, that book is just hysterical!!
ReplyDeleteHugs to you,
Kristin
November is usually my blue month and time for a good cry.
ReplyDeleteHope you're feeling refreshed and ready for the holidays.
It was my youngest daughter's last pre-school day today, I just felt so sad...and yes I cried!
ReplyDeleteI do cry, more these days but that's more down to hormones!! A British comedian has just written a book that made me laugh so much I had tears pouring down my face! (Michael macintyre)
ReplyDeleteDavid Sedaris' Holidays on Ice comes out every year for a good laugh. I'll have to check out Mr. Burroughs tome.
ReplyDeleteI am a veritable waterworks these days, everything reminds me of my parents. How I wish they were around to coo over all the old ornaments (my Mom) and take charge of the lights and tinsel (my Dad). I guess they are in spirit and will live forever in the traditions that I carry on today.
Can't wait to run out and get this book, and sit down with Augusten AND Mr. Sedaris and admire our tree.
Merry Christmas!
p.s. loved your Seraphina story :^)
'Tis the season for crying tears of joy and tenderness and gratitude for me and Alberto.
ReplyDeleteThe tears of despair and fear happened in October.
Tears of frustration and exhaustion followed that.
Isn't it amazing how many tears we all have inside of us?
