" Damn me! I knew they'd get past those planning laws somehow."
A recent illustration for J.McLaughlin on Madison Avenue. (One of the original shops) Ye olde shoppe just had a face lift, a new awning, a new lantern and a touch of green. Next time you are on Madison Avenue strolling, step inside and see what oldies but goodies are in store.

Susan,
Funny, that is exactly the way I feel when I draw something....I just want to be there. I feel as though I am in my work ~ so appreciative of your very kind comments.
Have a goof day at your buttermilk cottage.

Just strolled by the Madison store on Monday and the facelift is tasteful and elegant. Love the cartoon coming from a small town with draconian P&Z laws!
Nice shop, love the green!!Heading to NYC over Thanksgiving gonna have a stroll by.
Love the green.
I thought of you yesterday when I drove by the tiny McLaughlin store in Bernardsville, NJ. So cute!
I want to go there! Great drawings. Have a good day.Iris.
Your illustrations are always so good! --G
Your illustrations have the best energy, they look and feel updated while also referencing another time, the combination is very welcoming. No wonder your work is so popular! Janell
This looks so elegant with the light sparkling in the windows and the branch hanging into the scene!
Next time in town I will stop by there!
See you! : ) V.
I feel like I'm right there. Thanks so much! xoxo
Lovely, Patricia! What I love about your drawing is it feels like I am there. Which is nice for someone who is longing for a stroll down Madison Avenue! Thanks for this treat!
Cute cartoon. My husband is a contractor...he knows all about those planning laws. Historic areas are the hardest to deal with. Building facades always have to be just so! Carla
we have practically no zoning in the South, property rights trump everything, and the historic preservation department in our town does nothing! J McLauglin did pick the only protected spot in town, though.
Best,
Liz
I just love that illustration. I can just feel the fall in Manhattan, and the leaves on the sidewalks.
OK.....so funny. I walked by THIS J. McLaughlin on my way to Monograms on Madison....and mentioning that is how Alyssa and I figured out we both knew you. I almost snapped a picture to send you.
Were your ears burning?
xoxo E
I love your watercolors! The colors are always fresh and cheerful.
I'll have to stop in - it's nearby! Beautiful work, as always!
