I love this image of these fellows painting outdoors under these mighty trees.

Many artists will always find trees to be a wonderful subject to paint.
So much intrigue with the shadows caused by the leaves, the branches and the reflected light.
Note that the shadows are color and not gray.
Camille Pissarro painted "literary" trees.
He painted his self portrait and I adore the artwork he included behind himself.
His very own beard takes on the shape of a tree.
Can you see it?
(I like your tree, I mean your beard)
Each time I see one of Camille Pissarro's paintings, my eyes are more than just enjoying the shadows, I can almost hear the leaves speaking to one another.
Funny how many trees can become a forest.
Summer trees are whispering to one another that Autumn is ahead.
Go outside, find a lovely tree, try to read under the mighty bough's or sketch a tree.
There is something intoxicating about finding a shady spot to rejuvenate one's self in the midst of a hot August summer day.
Tell me, do you have a favorite shady spot?
all artwork by Camille Pissarro
I love PIssarro. Not as flashy or well known as your Gauguin or Monet, but he really gets under your skin.
ReplyDeleteSignac is someone else whom I think does not get his due. And Derain. Oh I better stop now.
And I agree his trees are superb, I can hear them too. xo
These are such vivid paintings. They definitely pull you in too.

ReplyDeletePissarro in fact loved and admired other masters - but to me - his work is so eloquent.
Hope you have a made in the shade day!

Yes, all we need is a blanket and a picnic basket, right!~

Under the big tree at the park. I park the blanket halfway under the tree and halfway out to get the best of both worlds(shade and sun:) Just might have to sketch the tree next time we are there...and bring some of our new pastels:) --G

ReplyDeleteI thought of you on my trip to the New York Botanical Garden - lots of pretty letterpress things to taunt me.
Saying things like yoo, hoo, buy me!
I love the idea of a picnic.

One of my favorites is the white birch that shades one corner of the house - all the different shades and textures of the bark. And when the leaves start to drop (which they started last week)fall is on it's way.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the reminder to look again at Pissarro's work.
ReplyDeleteWe were gazing at an ancient Turkey Oak in the park yesterday - majestical!
Gorgeous works! I was sipping some coffee yesterday on my back porch and notice reds in the trees I think they are already turning for fall! Have a wonderful day!
ReplyDeleteLove these images. The countryside always leaves me longing. What's that all about?
ReplyDeleteWe have a fun photo essay my neighbor shot of "thoughtful spots." I am very attracted to paintings of trees and used to paint them compulsively, myself. Have you seen the Strutt's Trees. It was a survey of the great trees in England, and usually includes architectural elements--love them!

Any shady spot is my favorite during the summer! Love the first image. Looks like a perfect way to spend a day. If only I could paint.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful work... I have a definite love for art work of all kinds... especially peices that make you see the world in a different way.. thanks for sharing!!

We have a several large oak trees around our house. I enjoy watching the changes that occur each season. I don't think I could ever paint them, however. I am amazed at those who can. Carla
ReplyDeleteI never realized how obsessed I am with trees. Wish we could find a shady spot and have a class on painting trees.

My favorite shay spot is under my lanai, away from the hot Summer sun. Hope you're staying cool! xx
