This gorgeous apple tree and apples are in my garden.
I love using this recipe. Someone's in the kitchen with Ina, and that someone would be me.I substitute with the apples from my tree. Seems I cannot make it fast enough. We are full of applesauce around here.
What has nature been teaching you?

When life gives you apples, you make applesauce! What a harvest you have on your hands - we've been eating apple pie on the beach all week.
ReplyDeleteHello PVE:
ReplyDeleteGorgeous photos of divine green apples. It was fun to meet you the other evening. Rgds, Reggie
Love those apples! My son "discovered" peaches this year so we have been having a lot of peaches. I think it's time to make my mom's delicious peach cobbler! xo Elizabeth
ReplyDeleteWhat a pretty tree you have! Would love to sample that recipe made with your apples!

I was just noticing the other day that all the trees are starting to get thier apples! I think I saw an apple tree on town property - I might sneak over there and pick some!
ReplyDeletesounds so idylic! have a great week Patricia xx
ReplyDeleteI don't have an apple tree where i live now. However, being Jamaican, i grew up with tons of fruit trees in my yard, and there's nothing better than using ones own fruits from ones own fruit trees in a recipe:-). Happy Monday.
ReplyDeleteI love Ina, her books are my bibles in the kitchen!
ReplyDeleteMy basil has grown like crazy this summer so I have been adding it to everything, even deserts.
When life gives you apples, make applesauce! You seem to be doing it. :)
ReplyDeleteYou are blessed to have that tree. It's beautiful and bountiful.
ReplyDeleteFresh applesauce - yum! Trade you some apples for an over abundance of basil here!
ReplyDeleterWe had apple tree growing up. Yours is beautiful. I am very impressed that you are churning out applesauce.
ReplyDeletePS Hope you had a fun date!
Lovely harvest! Jealous!!!
ReplyDeleteI love fresh apples! The deer have been jumping up to grab them in all the orchards around us, so its a great location for fawn watching. I love to see them play. Apples make me think summer is coming to an end. I am not ready.
ReplyDeleteIt's hard to believe it's applesauce season already...we're still trying to find our summer! ;)
ReplyDeleteI'm going to have to try that recipe...Ina never misses! xo J~
This summer,
ReplyDeleteit's been all
about the berries,
for us! Lovely
organic raspberries
and blueberries from
Costco, of all places!
Going home to the
Pac NW at the end of
the week....my folks
have raspberries,
blueberries and black-
berries and nothing is
more divine then picking
them right before you
eat them....on anything!
Your applesauce sounds
like it might be in the
same category: Bliss!
xx Suzanne
Yummy, I used to make applesauce with my students every September. We studied about Johnny Appleseed and did all kinds of activities involving apples. Your post brought back good memories. Carla
ReplyDeleteHi PVE,
ReplyDeleteWe leave the east coast tomorrow to re-enter the academic world! It would be absolutely lovely to meet you, though, and I'm in the area every summer. Shall we try for next time?
Miss C
you make your own applesauce? how cool are you!! i guess that goes under the "chief cook" role. :)
ReplyDeletehave a great week!!
Randomness... there are hundreds of tree branches down and the temps have been fluctuating wildly in Richmond, VA. Tornados? A big wind regardless.
ReplyDeleteYou, however, find beauty and bring it home wherever you are! Well done, Mrs. PvE! What a fine back yard.
Post the results of the endeavor.
I am so impressed that you a. have an apple tree b. it is fruitful, c. you make applesauce! That is awesome!
ReplyDeleteSlowing down and just enjoying the pleasures of nature. I am biking again and love the feeling of freedom it gives!

Love these images! I am so looking forward to getting back to the east coast this fall for some apple picking. You have to share how the applesauce turned out!
ReplyDeleteBest,
Amy Meier
I cant believe its August already and it will be apple picking time soon, where has this summer gone?
ReplyDeleteI bet your applesauce is delicious. And even more so knowing you picked the apples yourself.
ReplyDeleteApples are something that I miss from the north - now being in Florida. Used to love taking the kids on a hayride and pick apples in Connecticut.
ReplyDeleteI long for fall! Its been so hot here.
Great blog!
