gone green

Did your mother tell you to "eat your greens?" Do you tell your children to eat their greens?
How about drinking greens. I am in the midst of eating raw and drinking my greens. I love the combo of celery, lime and green apple. A bit of mint tastes fresh too. My head is clear and my heart is feeling relaxed with all these healthy concoctions.

Do you have a favorite green? Wishing each of you optimum health and happiness!

Actually I love to make pesto out of kale. It's rustic, but oh so yummy when fresh from the market in the summer!

That combo sounds fantastic. My younger sister has been on a raw diet for about 6 months now. She raves about how amazing, clear, and energetic she feels. I have been thinking about investing in a Vitamix blender myself. Do you use a regular blender to make your drinks?

That combination you have sounds pretty tasty. I have one of those magic bullet things that someone gave me for Christmas. I might should try yours.

It is House of A-M's home in Home Beautiful magazine - you get a lovely mention! Just thought you'd want to know in case you didn't already!

Hi, I'm new to your blog so I don't know if you are using mostly organic produce...one veggie you want to go organic with is celery, it's high on the list of items grown with lots of pesticides and juicing concentrates pesticides and that freaks me out. I use organic carrots, too. A few other things I let slide, but apples and peppers are on the high pesticide list, too.

I use a GreenStar juicer, expensive, but you get the highest yield of juice and the motor doesn't get burnt out. I found mine on ebay and saved a little money. I also use a 1954 VitaMix I picked up 12 years ago for $50 that is amazing when you want to keep some of the fiber in the juice. I also have the Magic Bullet which is great for a quick one person smoothie and my vintage Osterizer blender is awesome at making up smoothies for more than one serving.

A website you might want to check out:
http://www.hacres.com/ (Hallelujah Acres) it has a religious bent to it which I am not into, but others may be, but it also has some other good information and stories of how people have beat cancer by going raw and they have retreats.

I bet you feel AMAzinG! I've done raw a few times, but only for short periods. I always feel incredible. It's hard getting started, but once you do, it's worth it. My favorite green lemonade from Natalia Rose's Raw Book is in my Health section. It's delicious!

Love, love that you went raw! I need to take a little raw journey myself...which is easier to do in the warmer months when the famers' markets are bursting with goodness. YUM!

Now that I've got the VitaMix, I can blend spinach into the breakfast smoothies with no effort. Add apples and limes to the mix -- yum!
