head to head

image from martha stewart living
Walking home from yoga class this morning, I spotted something in the garbage that reminded me of the above image. Industrious, like an ant, I proceeded to see if I could manage lifting it which I could. Given the fact that I was more than a few houses away and had a hill to climb I left it out of my head.

Then, spotting my gardener en route to my house, I asked if he would mind picking it up for me, (insert smile, and batting eyelashes). He told me he had seen it and knew exactly where to get it as he had seen it earlier.
Now all I need to do is hide it (from the warden)- paint it and have my carpenter friend make a foot board. So - let's put our heads together and tell me, shall I paint it black or a deep charcoal?

I think the house had an "Estate sale"-and guess that did not sell, now there is a for sale sign---
    One man's trash, another's treasure!

  4. Like I've said...one man's trash is another man's treasure!!! I love the drama of shiny black!
I'm sure your new bed has found a wonderful spot to have sweet dreams. The warden should be proud of your clever green ways!

  5. What a find!
I'd paint it charcoal and throw a pink cashmere throw on the bed.

  6. I like the idea of a deep charcoal. Maybe you could post a picture of the room you intend to put it in?

  7. It pays to work out does it not? Lucky you, all stars must be in line. I'm no good with choosing colors. Whatever you decide will be fab.

  8. Lucky gal...So adorable, color depends on the rest of the room...
I love charcoal, goes with everything and is softer then black, but if you do a - let say -white/yellow/black theme then black would be great!
I am sure you get it right!
    See you tomorrow! :)

  10. What a great find and an even greater gardener you have! I say deep charcoal, add some dimension with a slightly off color in the room is pretty

  16. You lucky girl! What a find! Martha is going to call soon - and want it back!

I actually think black. It has the bones for it. I need to send you a link to a brand new bedroom makover that I really like, and it has a couple of black accents in it.

Cyber hug and happy weekend, dear!

    Mon

Only a refreshed yoga brain would even

  17. Depends on what else you plan to put in the room with it, but I'd go with the black.

Going to yoga - good for you! :)

  18. Thanks for all your kind comments -
It will be a project and not one that I will be doing for some time. For now it is stored in the garage.
I can assure you, it will be beautiful!

  19. Such a great find ! I am looking for one myself; I've been married almost 25 years and never have had a headboard on our bed...it's time!
    And: charcoal!

  20. Always sailing against the wind, I say black or darkest, darkest brown then black oil glazed until it becomes black with deepness showing through.

  21. Hi. I've been out of the loop for a while. My garden has been calling me outside. Which I must say is a happier use of my time in general.

I read on a blog, "Good things come to those who don't mind second hand." I think in your case, "Great things come to those brave enough to treasure hunt."

Charcoal would be brilliant for bringing on luxurious dreams.

  22. CL-
I had a head board as a child and never as an adult!
What is wrong with that picture - til now!

    Home before Dark,
Yes, I think black with a glaze of sorts or perhaps even a high gloss of sorts. I spotted one on the Conrans site - in a deep black for a mere 19,000 - dollars or pounds, a dreamy headboard --- take a look - for yourself.

  24. Quite a find - I have to hide these kinds of things, too. We passed two wicker tub chairs the other day and I said, "Do you think they are throwing those away?" He didn't answer and didn't stop.

Black or charcoal either will be terrific.

  25. Oooh I love dumpster diving -- and this is a fabulous score! I say go for charcoal.

  26. I think either color would be great, however, I am partial to black. We are getting ready to paint my youngest daughter's bed black. What a great find! Carla

  27. seriously? wow. unreal!!!!!!!! I can't wait to see what you do with it.

  28. Oh, I have been looking for a bed similar to that one!
I think a high gloss black would be a beautiful statement, but it depends on the room.
Love when things find you like that.

  29. Wow! I am only a little jealous. I am not a black fan so I would pick grey.

  30. What a great find! My vote is for charcoal. The warden, hahahaa...have one of those myself! XXOO
