My old Kentucky home

Growing up -Derby Day always meant it was time to spruce up your garden, and get out and enjoy the blue-grass.


Derby City, home to Louisville Stoneware mugs, The Derby and beautiful bluegrass.
As My Dad likes to say, "known for fast women and beautiful horses."

These are just a few lovelies from my old Kentucky Home.
Get those mint julep cups polished in time for a little luck.

    loved your comment today... made me laugh. there is definitely a folgers coffee can stashed somewhere... and envelopes under all of the mattresses...

    i would love to attend the derby one day... i am sure it is amazing... xx

    Your dad sounds like a charmer with a sense of humor!
    The tree in that book cover is absolutely marvelous - I need to go to the Kentucky Derby some day. I'm a Kentucky Colonel and yet I've never been! That's a shame!

    You are a Kentucky Colonel! Wow, then you must know how to make "Kentucky Fried Chicken! Colonel Sanders began frying chicken and selling it piping hot from a road side stand for weary travelers.
    You must go - and please check out the gardens of John Carloftis.

    Great mugs for my hot chocolate (yes in the Summer) and the the Derby, I've never attended one. Seems like it would be plenty of fun.

    Love this post! There is something so comforting and inviting about a well planned Kentucky garden and nobody does it better than Jon Carloftis! I hope that your Derby day is filled with red roses, beautiful hats and perhaps a julep or two!

    My grandfather loved women in hats. There is nothing that says the south more than an elegant day at the races. I am SO sorry I did not get to connect with you in NYC.
