convalescing

Normally, I prefer not to blog about too many personal issues but when I came across this rather perfect photo, I just knew it was a sign to share day four of my little party in my bed.
Actually, I have been very ill, and feel so much stonger today. A bit of a blip in the road shall we say.

What is it about taking refuge to our bed, with a stack of books, a breakfast tray (even though truth be told I do not in fact own one, a breakfast tray that is) and slipping into something cozy that suddenly makes one feel better? Doctors orders to rest, no food, just a clear liquid diet. How about you, when you find yourself "convalescing" - what things make you feel better? (Note the gold slippers bedside.)
Suddenly, I feel that this would make a divine illustration for a sappy "Get well card!"
Pardon me, while I ruefully plan to get on with life beyond this bed. Not to worry, I am feeling
like a new woman.
Thank you to Rose C'est la vie for this photo which Rose posted, the photo is from none other than Slim Aarons.

  1. This would make a great card! I think the only thing this woman is missing is a special pillow for her pup, a bell by her side of the bed and a crown for her head. Sounds like you are up and ready to greet the world. Thank goodness my friend. Warm hugs coming your way. xo

  3. So happy to hear that you are on the road to recovery. I think we all do so much in preparation for the holidays that we cheat our precious selves. Rest and enjoy the day. Love the image-and the accouterments.

  7. I learnt last month that it is best to just go with it until you feel better so I do hope you are snuggled in nicely Patricia. And happy to know you are on the mend.
Happy New Year.....to good health in 2010.

  8. Best wishes for a quick recovery. Bed can be both the best & worst place of welcome in a new year. I hope you were able to enjoy the transition to 2010.

I confess that when I'm passed the worst of any illness, I actually enjoy that day in bed with the stack of books.

  12. I think I am just coming out of the woods w/a flu. A daily change of pillows and pajamas has made me feel alittle better.
Best wishes for you to move from under the weather to feeling on top of the world. That is more your style! Take care Patricia.

  15. Oh, I do hope you continue to feel better, Patricia! Sip whole leaf chamomile tea with honey, it certainly helped me when I had my share of unexpected sickness last fall.

Perhaps all of the extra rest will have you fully charged for a jump start in the new year!

  16. Sometimes we just need to listen to out bodies and sloooow down to recuperate from all the hectic craziness in our lives. It is a lot of work being creative, pleasing everyone we can and then trying to relax.

  19. Hope you are on the mend!! That picture made me chuckle out loud! I was convelescing on my couch yesterday.... I prefer the couch to the bed... fire place, side table piled high with shelter mags, scented candle, and when I am not ill...a glass of white wine!

next time, I will definitely have a bell on the side table to summon the hubby for re-fills!!
