Normally, I prefer not to blog about too many personal issues but when I came across this rather perfect photo, I just knew it was a sign to share day four of my little party in my bed.
Actually, I have been very ill, and feel so much stonger today. A bit of a blip in the road shall we say.
What is it about taking refuge to our bed, with a stack of books, a breakfast tray (even though truth be told I do not in fact own one, a breakfast tray that is) and slipping into something cozy that suddenly makes one feel better? Doctors orders to rest, no food, just a clear liquid diet. How about you, when you find yourself "convalescing" - what things make you feel better? (Note the gold slippers bedside.)
Suddenly, I feel that this would make a divine illustration for a sappy "Get well card!"
Pardon me, while I ruefully plan to get on with life beyond this bed. Not to worry, I am feeling
like a new woman.
Thank you to Rose C'est la vie for this photo which Rose posted, the photo is from none other than Slim Aarons.
This would make a great card! I think the only thing this woman is missing is a special pillow for her pup, a bell by her side of the bed and a crown for her head. Sounds like you are up and ready to greet the world. Thank goodness my friend. Warm hugs coming your way. xo
ReplyDeleteOh indeed - a bell by the bed is the perfect accessory!

So happy to hear that you are on the road to recovery. I think we all do so much in preparation for the holidays that we cheat our precious selves. Rest and enjoy the day. Love the image-and the accouterments.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry to hear you've been ill! And I'm glad to hear you're recovering. Happy New Year to you and your family. xo

I learnt last month that it is best to just go with it until you feel better so I do hope you are snuggled in nicely Patricia. And happy to know you are on the mend.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year.....to good health in 2010.
Best wishes for a quick recovery. Bed can be both the best & worst place of welcome in a new year. I hope you were able to enjoy the transition to 2010.
ReplyDeleteI confess that when I'm passed the worst of any illness, I actually enjoy that day in bed with the stack of books.
Patricia,
ReplyDeleteSo glad you are on the mend. I, too, have been down after a busy week away from home. So glad to be back between by own sheets. Also, love this pic. I've had many a laugh with friends this could be me in future years!
Happy 2010.
Talk soon,

Life couldn't be better than to have all those wonderful little bits by your side. Hope you are feeling well soon!
ReplyDeleteJeanne :)
Feel better soon!!!!
ReplyDeleteGet better soon - but savor the restful moments now you are feeling well enough to enjoy them.
ReplyDeleteI think I am just coming out of the woods w/a flu. A daily change of pillows and pajamas has made me feel alittle better.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes for you to move from under the weather to feeling on top of the world. That is more your style! Take care Patricia.
Were you peeking in my window??
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear that you're feeling better! At least now that the holidays are over, you'll have more opportunity to rest!
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear you've been sick! It sounds miserable! I hope it's nothing serious. Wishing you a quick recovery.
ReplyDeleteOh, I do hope you continue to feel better, Patricia! Sip whole leaf chamomile tea with honey, it certainly helped me when I had my share of unexpected sickness last fall.
ReplyDeletePerhaps all of the extra rest will have you fully charged for a jump start in the new year!
Sometimes we just need to listen to out bodies and sloooow down to recuperate from all the hectic craziness in our lives. It is a lot of work being creative, pleasing everyone we can and then trying to relax.
ReplyDeleteAww- can I just hug each of you for your blog love!
ReplyDeleteYou are making me feel so much better! :)
I actually feel more like my old self, a few lbs. lighter, but hey I am not complaining. :)

God speed to you! A speedy recovery your way! Thanks for commenting on the blog!

Hope you are on the mend!! That picture made me chuckle out loud! I was convelescing on my couch yesterday.... I prefer the couch to the bed... fire place, side table piled high with shelter mags, scented candle, and when I am not ill...a glass of white wine!
ReplyDeletenext time, I will definitely have a bell on the side table to summon the hubby for re-fills!!
So glad you are feeling better. Don't feel guilty about faking it for a few more hours. Sounds cozy in there.
ReplyDeleteI don't think I could go to bed like that without my dogs and I noticed the tiny yorkie resting along with her, just something that meakes me feel better when recooperating.
ReplyDeleteSad to hear that you've been ill. Happy New Year and feel better!
ReplyDeleteFeel better, my dear. I think that photo is marvelous. Don't overdo it now...this nastiness that has been going around will jump right back on you if you don't just east back into things.
ReplyDeleteHope you are feeling better soon!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year aand I do hope you are all better soon!
ReplyDeleteLet them all spoil you a bit...
