A "series" of books has always been a part of my world as well as my sons. Although they are older, these books still remain on the shelf. Harry Potter, Artemis Fowl, The Hardy boys, and other series of fortunate and unfortunate events which have provided a great source of wonder and immediate escape. A collection of swiss army knives given by my husband to the boys, you know how most boys are about toys. They are on a shelf up high and are part of a series too.
So, tell me, do you have a series of items or books on your Sunday shelf?

I have serveral shelves of art history books. I still refer and read them from time to time. I also like to link together as to who was a student of who, or who painted together, and what was the art climate of the day that made some of them stray, and start a new style of painting. Someday, I want to give these books away to a person or people who would enjoy them.
purple flowers-
how lovely - I too have a collection or art books, and I am constantly amazed at those whom I have never met, yet inspire me in my quest as an artist - to create- to design and live an artful life.
lucky person who gets the books, perhaps an art school or a struggling student.

So many - Artemis, Harry, Narnia, Deltora Quest, Alex Rider - seems we never want the story to end.
Good Sunday morning, PvE! As it happens, I just found a delightful series of books on ebay focused on 'little gardens'... each bound in a different cloth cover & all first editions from the '20's.
The Little Garden
Peonies in the Little Garden
Iris in the Little Garden
Variety in the Little Garden
Roses in the Little Garden
Design in the Little Garden
I like that picture. I have Harry Potter too and too many magazines to count.
In my sewing room, I keep my favorite childhood books:
Cherry Ames series (LOVED her)
Nancy Drew series
Hardy Boys series (I read all my brothers' then started my own collection)
Meg series
Judy Blume books (I think my mom threw out "Forever")
The Endless Steppe by Esther Hautzig
Rebecca's War by Ann Finlayson
Laura Ingalls Wilder series
James Bond series (stolen from my brother!)
The Preppy Handbook.
Great post -- I am reading Meditations in an Emergency by Frank O'Hara.
You know me I have shelves and shelves and shelves of romances books. Some classics and mysteries thrown in. Each of my children and bookshelves in their rooms not to mention the boxes of books I bring back from conferences ever year. We really need to build more shelves in this house to properly display them. Then there are the magazines that I collect. Don't get me started, my DH will have a fit.
I liked the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe when I was a kid, and Nancy Drew. I have given Hardy Boys Novels to friends children, and they still have them on their bookshelves, 20 years later.
Hope you are having a great weekend Patricia!
I'm a big Nicholas Sparks fan but must admit I've slacked on on purchasing and reading his latest. I think a call to the local bookstore is necessary. Especially with a 5 hour flight in the near future.
I live surrounded by books: Classic literature, Art, Photography, Interior Design, Comics, Novels, Essays...I keep adding. I am scared when I see a house without books!
the only series i can think of at the moment are antique law books from my husband's collection. they are lovely to look at but quite a bore to read! how did he ever enjoy law school?!
if you count all of my design books, however, then i have a whopping series...bunny williams, charles faudree, celerie kemble to name a few. i cherish them.
I -one room in particular- have so many shelves with books (interior, literature, selfhelp, poems, childrens, interior, comics, study, ...oh and did I say interior??) In between all these books I have pictures, momentos, little art sculptures. It's my favourite room in our house.
I still have my Nancy Drew books packed away to hopefully pass on to daughters one day. They still have the little homemade pockets in the back from when I played "librarian". And, what a fabulous collection of Swiss Army knives. Never met a guy who didn't love a pocket knife.
I've only read the first Artemis book, gotta read some more. I loved it!
